ok my door has a dent in it...so i found same color door in good condition from junkyard...i just gotta swap it out now...i'm gonna have to swap everything from my door to the new one since the new one is just the skin. the new door is from a 90-91 door with the seat mounted on the door...my car is an 88...these doors are the same besides that rite? i already took off the seat belt and stuff already so yea and the handles. one more thing...how does the hinge come out? not the 4 bolts holding it to the car but the metal hinge itself...when i went to the yard the new door was missing the hinge already so im gonna have to swap that as well...and the door lock..how does it unhook? i looked in there with a flashlight and it seems like the metal line going to the lock just unhooks but i want to make sure before i break anything. anyone with help that would be great thanks
wow the seat is mounted on the door??? I think you meant the seatbelt is mounted on the door. The pillar on the outside of the door is bigger on the 90-91 and the seatbelts are mounted on the door but I think thats about it but dont quote me on it because I am not a CRX guy. Hatch all the way!!!!
90-91 have a smaller trim on the outside of the doors and they also have the seat belts located at the bottom of the doors and the trim that seperates the door window from the rear window is wider

DO NOT swap the 91 door onto an 88 car. It is heavier and just will not look right with a 88 door on the passenger side. I would see if a body shop can get the dent out. You can physically swap the door on but I wouldn't if I were going to swap anything it would be a 88 (89 hf) door onto any car with the seatbelts in the door (89-91).
you can swap the doors
you can reskin your door
you can maybe have the dent pulled
I would have the door reskined....this will bring the best result but will cost the most as the will have to cut in the inner door/jamb on the door itself
swap the doors is the next best thing..true the belts might look funny but the final result vs price makes it a smart choice
Pulling dents out of your current door. I have not seen a pic but I would assume this might not be possible to do and get good results. This is probably not any cheaper than door swapping and would make for ugly results unless you get the door repainted and have them blend paint in to the quarter and fender.

exactly what i alraedy planned on doing...
pulling the dent is an option...but it cost over $600 to pull dent, mix, and blend the paint in.
reskinning is way too much
i have a door and its already the same color. and i placed it against the car and it looked color matched pretty well. so basically i can swap the door but the trim panel is different along with the seat belt on the door? i already dismounted everything for the seat belt from the door..so basically it just the door lock, handle and everything...everything holding the seat belt to the door is removed...anyone have any more opinions...as for the hinge...how does that part come out

i had an 88 and i got a door for a 91
didnt' fit at all without modifications to either the pillar or the door, and it meant cutting a huge hole into it
the door is simply too long on the insides and hits the pillar of the car...
i would have had to cut a good 2x5" piece out of the door edge..and i still wasn't sure if it was going to fit or not</TD></TR></TABLE>
Son of a "b". I wish I saw this earlier today... Yup, dont fit. I JUST tried it... The 88 goes on any 88-91 crx, but the 89-91 wont go onto the 88(and 89 hf) chassis....
