Default Attn: Turbo B-series EFs! Which manifold for our cramped engine bays?

So a buddy of mine took me for a ride in his '00 Si with a Drag 3 kit. Needless to say I know what I'll be buying my car next.

Which manifolds/motor mount/turbo combinations have you guys had success with? What, if any, fitment problems do you run into? Do I need to figure in the cost of a Z10 crossmember and 92 Civic rad into my buildup? Anyone have experience with the Drag kits for 88-91 Civics w/ B-series motors?

Thanks in advance.

sumorex is using a greddy manifold and a greddy 18g turbo for his setup and it fits with room to spare using a stock radiator. Only gotcha is that he had to use a slimline FAL fan

Hey todd, do you happen to know which mount kit Chris used? I could probably get on AIM and ask him but then nopbody else would know.

I use DRAG with my stock radiator, and I run the HCP kit. I have about 1.2-1.5" between the radiator and compressor housing. I will be buying a Z10 kit and 92 civic radiator anyways. If you run the turbo like you have A/C (like me) you have VERY little room for a downpipe unless you modify the stock x-member or replace it.

DRAG kit + Place racing Mounts = clearance issues

Clearance issues = re-positions radiator and a mauled front x-member

Check the site for additional details

I would suggest the DRAG manifold for this setup.

As far as clearance issues, most of the time, your going to have to cut into the cross member anyways. I have not seen a good mount kit that doesn’t require you to cut the x-member after putting on a good quality header. From all the headers I’ve seen, if your not cutting anything on the crossmember, then its not a good design.
To me performance is more important than clearance issues.

Rev hard manifold or a Bellerade would fit. Good luck finding a Bellerade its rare but it also allows you to keep your A/C

i'm using hasport mounts, fmax/maxrev <they're the same log style> manifold and a 4/3 hybrid turbo... if I was FMIC, I'd be home freen but having the compressor clocked the way I do, makes it all REALLLLLY tight int here.... 1/2 inch to the radiator from the 90 degree boot off the compressor....

No crossmember mods, and I can keep the a/c.

Sorry I'm a little late on the subject. I am a little uneducated on the custom setups for 4gs - do you need all custom piping and custom manifold? Or can you use piping from a kit. I would rather have a kit, plus I dont want to boost that much anyway (6-8psi at most). I would be happy with a mitsu turbo or t3 (but I guess I'd take a t3/t4 for the right price). Anyone have a turbo set up using a fluidyne radiator? the fluidyne is thicker (don't know by how much) and it looks so tight in there already (with the DC header). I have the HASport mounts, but I scrapped the a/c. Anyone use a DC header before their turbo and have before/after pics or have an estimate of the clearance difference? I think it would be fine if the turbo housing wasnt near the radiator fan, because the a/c fan side is empty. Thanks for any help.

is that manifold custom for b-series in EFs or is it for b-series in general? is that a b18a? I wish the turbo could be on the other side , I dont know if a slim rad fan could help me. I would be pissed if I bought a kit and all and found it it couldnt fit. Thanks for the pic tho.

I'm using a custom manifold, a half size radiator, and a slimline fan from auto zone. keeps the car pretty cool, on the haltech datalogs i never see it over 200F. Here are some pics, sorry for the size, only camera i could come up with.

if your worried about a fan why dont you just run a push fan on the outside of the radiator?

1988 HF, B18A, Place Racing kit, 94+ DRAG III LS kit. Minor clearance issues with the x-member and the radiator. but it fits well now. Kinda tight, but the mod's were easy. I have a feeling that with a HAsport or HCP kit that uses all 4 mounts and located the engine abit farther back in the bay clearance problems would be neglegable.
