A quick funny story
Yesterday I was at an Acura dealership getting a quote on refinishing my front bumper. Anyway, the 2 people at the body shop including the manager thought that my paint on the car (PY) was "custom" and was ready to charge me extra. I started laughing and said this is PY and was stock on Type R's many years ago. They were stunned and amazed at the same time b/c they never seen a car that color there before. And then I was like "your telling me this dealership never sold a PY type R"????? they responded, "I dont know". I was like wow this place is sad. I would never expect that from an Acura dealership.

well if you work at an Acura dealership you are suppose to be knowledgeable about all cars, whether popular or rare, you should at least know that they exist. It was just funny how they thought the paint on the car was custom.

wow, that really is sad... "custom paint job"?? laugh out loud. i think you should give 1337l3nh4x226 this dealerships name and phone number as well as the name of this so called manager so he can set these guys straight
I had a mitsubishi dealer tell me the ACD button on an Evolution MR "changed the suspension settings for better handling".
Alot of sales associates are hired short-term, so it isnt surprising to see that they didnt know anything about the color... The manager though, that I wouldnt expect!
Its rare (and very satisfying) when you get people like Len that are so involved in the work they do and take pride in gaining knowledge regarding their work - in this case the ITR.

Len, you are like the uber exception to Acura service and parts staff
Like mentioned, not everyone puts the time or dedication to details.

If it makes you feel any better, I was at my local honda dealership today picking up some parts for the wifeys car and I was b/sing with the parts manager who was very interested that I bought a stripped ITR. His first question was "what number was it"? So I ended up talking to him from there. Just for a quick reference, he was in his mid 40's.

Yes, crack kills and Canada never sold MR ITR's.
Im sure we all have funny stories of dealership visits about our cars. One time the 3 or 4 salesman asking about my car were amazed that the top of the line Integra didn't come with a sunroof, leather seats, or cruise control.

I don't see why this is such a big deal? It's not like these guys go through a special class on the history of Honda and everything that was made. Obviously the Type-R was long gone before those workers showed up.
Also, from what I understood, because the R was limited production, dealerships had to put in bids to see if they could sell the car...kind of like a lottery.

it all depends on how you look at it. some of you might not think it's a big deal, but like the op said...it's kinda sad when some guys in their 40's off the streets know about ITR's and guys at the acura stealership don't.
