I got the in dash screen from Alipne the FM is so so at best and the AM is NOT there AT ALL!

THe Stock Radio THe FM and AM Where both VERY CLEAN. WHat what can this be and how do we fix it???? THe Radio shop said maybe a after market in window antana????

What do you guys think? What do I do from hear?

did you need an antennae adapter or did you forget to plug your antenna wire into the back of the new headunit? sounds dumb but i have done this and had the same symptoms. Some AM would come in and no FM. Thats dues to the strength of AM radio waves....the radio could still recognize them but not the FM waves.

 

my alpine is the same way.

my stock honda deck had 10x better fm reception

 

I've had better reception with my aftermarket headunit. But then there are only a few stations out were I am to test it on.

THanks.</TD></TR></TABLE> You have one of a very few problems when it comes to radio reception.....

1- There is a problem with thje new HU.

2- There is a problem with your ant.

3- There is a problem with the ant. connection.

4- You have an amplified radio ant. and it is not "turning on", [power ant. output from HU not wired]

What is the model # of the Alpine HU and what is the MM&Y of the car it went into? 94

 

all of my alpine head units have done this. I have had 3 and I just dont understand. Soon I am going to take it out and put the stock one back in because this one just sucks! BTW I have a decent head unit also, its not the cheap alpine.

Gotta agreee w/FCM (big shocker ) Over the last 7 or 8 years I saw one Alpine with a bad FM tuner, I think it was an iva-900 it didn't even produce static. past that most problems are either in the ant, or a connection. in fact I had the Ant. shaved on my Del Sol, and with just the ant wire plugged in, but the actual ant missing from the car I had FM reception with my alpine, but not with an Eclipse I had in for a quick minute. And I switched the an Alpine out of the Honda (9815) into my beater, and a another Alpine (9835) back into the Honda with FM, no ant.
