oil change
Okay, i know this might sound like a stupid question, so you all know, im quite new to cars, and i love this forum
Anyway, i decided i didnt want some jerkoff from jiffy lube changing my oil, doing routine maintinance on my car all together, so i learned how to change my brakes, change my gas filter, spark plugs, etc.
But one thing i'm going to do some time next week is change my oil, i've got everything worked out but i just wanted to know one thing, is it really necessary to change the washer? and if so, what size washer is it and do i require a torque wrench (i dont have one) Thanks

The washer on the drain plug? It is not always neccesary but mine needs to be replaced. It will leak if torqued to tightly or if it is old. My recommendation since you just bought the car would be to change it.
Its recomended to change the washer every time but I havent changed it for the last few (4-5) oil changes. Reason for changing it, is because its an aluminum washer that "crushes" when tightened. You will get a leak if you used a regular steel washer as a replacement.
