Just want to knoe what a FIAV is , thanks in advance.

 

fitv=fast idle thermo valve

it's the part that makes your car idle high on cold starts and gradually come down as coolant temp rises.

 

someone in another thread said they had a whine/whistle coming from there intake manifold , they said they checked the "FIAV" and is was bad. They said they changed is and the odd sound went away.
Well i've got this same sound , started about a month ago.
Any idea's ?

 

if you have a an air whistle coming from your FITV where coolent goes through, you have a VERY LARGE PROBLEM

 

No , My whistle/chirpish sound is coming out of the intake mani and throttle body.
I took off the cai and is still does it , so i know its not catching a air tone in the tubing.

 

Also it does not do it usually at idle , but when driving when I put a bit of strain on the engine (like when you hit the gas and you think you should probably downshift to keep from bogging a bit due to the lower speed vs gear.
stumps the shat out of me , its really getting on my nerves.

its probably coming from the idle adjustment screw on the throttle body or if you have a non oem intake it makes that noise (sometimes)

 

Also, you don't have to replace the FITV. All you have to do is tighten it. Search for FITV, you will find posts on fixing it.

 

Hell , that's what is was , The Idle adjustment screw .
I guess is vibrated in a turn and a half over time.
I unscrewed it a turn and a half and not only did the noise go away , but my motor sounds so much better at idle.
Hell the cai started pulling harder like it used to at idle , you know the sound .
