the doors are heavy because you have side-impact door beams. i wouldn't do it on a street car. safety first, buddy.

yes, i know of the guy who was going to make them.

but you need to find 15 other ppl that want cf doors.

btw, its not legal on the road, and even some racing sanctioning bodies won't allow something like this

I've seen most CF parts like you're talking about on PO.com or preludeonline.com «-- I think that's the website.. Check that out and see if it's on there or was..
I think I remember seeing something similar to what your talking about on there. Good luck on it though...

Moron.

The side impast door beam is a single 2-3" tube that is actually pretty light.

The actual door frame itself is about 30lbs, while all the window, lock, switches, mounting hardware, etc is another 30 or so. Then you have 5lb power mirrors, plus all the interior trim (which is not too heavy, but it adds up).
Then you have the window which is probably 5 lbs...

i can understand a power mirror being 5 lbs, but a window switch being 5 lbs? why not just lose ALL that stuff you mentioned and keep the regular door? that would make an improvement, woudln't it? besides, with a cf door, could you keep all your electronic luxuries?

^^lol

It depends on how the CF door is made... If someone actually took the time to make one that would allow you to use all the stock luxuries.. well... That's one expensive door...

Seibon makes doors for a lot of Honda applications including Integra's, s2000s, NSXs, and even 92-95 civics. I'm not sure if they have a 4th or 5th gen prelude carbon fiber door available.

they are very light too like 5-10 lbs. each
but 1500+ apiece

i think fiberglass doors are more reasonable. C/F doors are just to expensive for the advantage they give over fiberglass. why don't you try making your own door out of fiberglass? just make sure you put the impact beams back in.

Just for comparison sake an empty* stock door (5th gen) weighs 60 lbs.

*empty - no glass, no window rails or mechanism, no interior panel, no switches, no mirror.

so with the amount you are saving.....

you could just plug up your moonroof for cheaper, get a cf trunk, remove p/s, a/c, balancer shaft, get a jdm front bumper support, etc.
