Bypass Valve
I have an AEM V2 intake on my car and I had to take off the splash guard because it would not screw back in and it eventually got shredded in the tires. Couple of weeks ago I hit a big puddle and the engine died. It started back up and seemed fine but couple of hours later when I got out of work the check engine light came on and I could hear a knock. Everyone thought it was the head and so I had a new head put in but that wasnt it...I have bad piston rings!
Anyway. My question is whether you think a by-pass valve would help against splashes of that sort or is it just when you submerge the filter...it has something to do with the vacum.
Also my mechanic told me to use a thing called Slick 50 to "fill" the damage in the rings and to lower the friction. Do you think that is a good idea or should spend more money and replace the rings?
Thanks
