D15A2 - Engine Size?
Hi All-
I have a 1987 Honda Civic that has been setting for about 6 years in my brothers back yard with a broken camshaft (caused by low oil) that I want to revive. I have a both a Chilton and Haynes manual on this car but there is conflicting information on what the engine size is. Chilton says that the 13DA2 is a 1500 CC, and a 15DA2 is a 1300 CC. It would seem to me that the first two digits describe the engine size - but both manuals are very ambiguous and conflicting about what engines are which. The stickers under the hood say its a 1500 CC but the engine was rebuilt (or exchanged with different engine?) before I bought it so I am not sure what I really have. I bought a used D15A2 head and had a valve job done and its ready to go in but now I am questioning whether I have the right parts for the engine. I would hate to put a 1500 CC head on a 1300 CC engine - know what I mean?
Any help would be appreciated.

It's not called Si, it's called 1500S. That's got the carb 1.5L sucked in there right? It's the save engine. I don't know the codes on those old *** engines tho. But it's 1.5L for sure, 12 valve was the max amount of valves at the time for those engine.

Thanks guys - I thought the 15 in D15A2 meant 1500CC but wasn't sure. Page 1-11 of the Chiltons says its a 1500 CC, but page 3-19 (general engine specifications) lists D15A2 as a 1300 CC. Thats where the confusion came in. Its obviously a typo.

I would say start using the Chilton's as a door stop , or maybe fresh bedding for your hamster.....

NOPE,cleaned all the grease off when I put my new clutch in not too long ago and that's when I noticed it said D15A2 on the block.I thought I had a D16
I read somewhere that the D16 EFI head will fit on a D15A2 block so I'm thinking that's what was done cause everything I read says the D15A2 only came with a carb setup.
