Dizzy o-ring?!..
The the dizzy on my LS/VTEC is slightly leaking oil, I suspect its a bad o-ring, I've done a search, on how to take off the dizzy with no avail, can anyone direct me to the thread on how to take off the dizzy and replace the o-ring, w/possible pictures included. Also by doing that, is there any timing or adjustments needed, after putting the dizzy back on? and how difficult is this whole procedure to do for a newbie? Thanks!
icic, and when putting it back on, do i need to do any retiming or anything like that, i thought i remembered reading that? but not sure.
got, it, found the thread, how do you put the o-ring on. does it slip on to it, or that small shaft comes off then you put it on? the thread shows the bad o-ring then shows the pic with the new one on, but doesn't show how it goes on.

Yes, instead of two plugs, the OBD2 has one plug, same as the two but merged to one.
Not sure about the o-ring, i'm sure you just pop it off with w/e?
Try some flat skinny object, like a flathead screwdriver.

It would matter on which o-ring to get? i assume if i took off the dizzy if its a skinny o-ring its obd1 and if its thicker then its obd2?.
If your car is obd1, then you'll have an obd1 dizzy, you can't plug in the obd2 dizzy to your obd1 wire harness, and vice versa.
But I think that might be the Only difference, is the plugins for them.

You can use odb1 parts on an odb2 engine, but I'm sure the o-rings are the same.
Just get two though if you're not sure.

took the dizzy, suprisingly it is held up by one bolt, which is the top, the other two are not connected, one ear is chopped off to fit on, the other hole is not even near where it is suppose to bolted into, but it still holds up tight, n e way i took it off doesnt seem to be a leak, but the o-ring seems to slight movement, im not sure if the o-ring is suppose to be a tight fit or have some slight movement?
So you have a non-vtec dizzy, on a vtec head?
Atleast Two bolts should be on there then, I didn't know the one wouldn't fit on the left(firewallside).
You might wanna look into getting a dizzy for that head sometime. (gsr, b16, type-r)

pretty much, i thought it had to be a vtec dizzy, but i was told by a fellow HT member with LS/VTEC as well sed u can use a non vtec, just gotta chop one of the ears off. Im thinking of getting a vtec dizzy still, i can't rely on just one bolt holding it in place. But also is the o-ring suppose to snug/tight fit?
hmm i see, cuz when i took it off, didnt look like there was a leak, but just leaked down when i took it off, cuz of course theres oil. Hmm ill re-check it again. Putting a non-vtec dizzy on a vtec head would turn on the CEL, i assume so?? but when i got the car diagnosed and scanned, only got two CEL codes, that wasnt anything related to the dizzy. Code 7 & 14, TP sensor and IACV. hmm?
