Default My New GSR - Need Opinions Please?

Yah, i just got a 94 white 4-door GSR.. I need some help on deciding what after market things i should get for it.. Obviously i'll be getting the CAI, Header, and Exhaust.. I also have a Shogun 240 body kit already for it (might sell and get some other body kit).. Im also looking at a Skunk2 short shifter... Although i owe my dad 6800 for the car... So i am on a budget..So i need some input on what you guys think i should get and what brands of CAI, Header, and Exhaust are good on the GSR.. Im not goin for rice here.. def dont want a loud obnoxious exhaust or a huge *** tip on it... Im goin for modesty.. sept for the kit :D... well all your opinions are welcome.. Thanx guys

AEM cold air intake. DC header (4 to 1). Thermal Catback exhaust. Skunk II shortshifter is great, at least on a 2002 RSX-S. Sparco FM Intercooler, T3/T4 turbo. 800 shot of naaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwws. chaingun. windshield banner is a MUST. put one of those truck "moonvisors" on it with the five lil lights. Make sure you gut yourself before driving or VTEC won't engage. Eat beef everyday. Put a body kit on your body kit. put a "**** on ford" calvin on the rear windshield. make sure you've got Dubs AT LEAST. make two of your doors suicide. def altezzas in the back and a 2002 Dodge Ram front end conversion. that's all i can think of.

constructive...

do the aem cai, jdm 4-1 or comptech header, dc sports, thermal, or comptech catback....once you've done that come back. perhaps some light 15's or 16's. then cams...s2im...however -- what are your goals...how fast do you want to be? and how much cash do you ahve?

Im looking to make it as fast as possible without turbo, supercharger, or nos.. i want it to be reliable and good looking, as well as a nice swift ride ... I have about 1000 bucs to blow on it right now, depending on how much my corolla sells for.. and i'll be working full time this summer, so i should have roughly enough to do most things to it... Im thinking in a year and a half a turbo might come along.. but until then i want to make it as fast as possible so i can torch other importers.

AEM cold air intake
DC 4 to 1 header
Greddy SP or evo catback exhaust
Skunk2 shortshifter

very good choices in my opinion. ive done my research. its a nice setup without the ricer bullshiet. no loud *** exhaust noise and more performance gains out of 'em.

by the way, get rid of that shogun body kit. its definitely RICEBOY shiet.

ROFLMAO, i knew everyone would be hating on my kit.. but i got it for real cheap.. so i figure i might as well use it!! .. im still debating on whether i should use it or sell it and make a lil profit.. but im still trying to decide :D.

shogun body kit=riced out. sell that. aem cold air intake, dc jdm 4 to 1 w/ 2.5 carsound, and apex N1 or JDM 2.5 exhaust if youre planning on making some decent power later on. (ie cams headwork.). by the way congratulations on the purchase, NEWBIE. j/k

Ive heard that by putting a Shogun bumper on your car instantly cuts your **** size in half and it shrivles your ***** too... could just be hearsay, who knows. Anyway call me when you get it so i can show you what it can REALLY do.
Good choice Matt.

IMO.......sell the body kit, screw the intake, screw the header, save for a little longer and get a drag 3 turbo again......IMO

u wont regret boost. Once u boost u will feel dumb for even considereing a "cold air intake"

Service manual from http://www.helminc.com

do all the work on your car yourself... save a bundle. keep it in top shape by doing all the maintenance it needs up to date. that should take a lot of your money you are thinking of using to make it fast. sorry, after you're sure all the proper maintenace has been done, then you should be looking at making it faster. besides, you owe your dad money on the car.

as I remember, my 95 gsr 4dr was pretty fast stock. learn to take care of it first.

For starters, post in the Newbie section, NEWBIE!! =P Definitely go with either an AEM CAI or Comptech Icebox, any 2.5" Collector sized header (JDM OEM/JDM DC/Spoon/Mugen/Toda/SMP/Hytech) and then a depending on your ultimate goals, either an Apex N1 exhaust or a fully built 2.5" system such as SMP. Do some research.....try using the somewhat useful search function.

Screw the Body kit. Sell it. Get the I/H/E combo, a set of Cams, Cam Gears, VAFC and tune it. You'll be happy.

Or you can go FI, but it'll cost you a bit more.

I plan on doing everything myself.. since my dad has built cars from scratch.. i plan on learning everything i need to know about my car and cars in general.... I also have done research.. I just want some input.. This will be my first car i will "pimp" out.. so i was just wondering what everyone else thinks about the parts/companys...

I got my GS-R for $6500, bone stock in super-excellent cond. Only 5 payments to go!!

Since you are on a budget, screw all those intakes and spend $45 on a K&N RU-2820 filter and some piping and make your own version of the Comptech Icebox. That's what I have on my car and I love it.

Also, I can't believe no one has mentioned it yet (unless I missed it), upgrade suspension!!! For $1000 you can get the same shocks and springs I have, plus a Type R rear sway bar, a rear upper tower brace, and maybe a few more suspension bits here and there. Then it will REALLY be a canyon carver. My suspension was my first major mod I've done (aside from DIY intake and short shifter), and I must say, I'm glad I did.

*edit* all the mods you see there in my sig total right at $1100.

that reminds me.. I want to drop my tegra 1.25 - 1.75 inches.. not sure on the drop yet.. but i dont want it to be a really super uncomfortable ride.. so anyone who has lowered their car.. let me know how the ride is.. im sure it handles great... but my bros truck is lowered and it is a bitch ride.. i dont want my tegra to be like that!
