Default 99-00 front end conversion, and engine swap? Questions?

Hi,

I am about to purchase a 98 civic coupe. I want to do a 99-00 front end conversion, and was wondering if it is hard to do, and will fit together well with no spaces, and look as if it were a 99-00 civic? Also is the 99-00 rear bumper different than the 96-98 civics?
And are there any other exterior differences between a 98 and 99-00 besides the front end, and rear if there is?

Second question is, what do you think the best swap would be for it (was thinking b16, or H22)? I am looking to spend around 1500, and might turbo it in the future. Or would it be a better idea to turbo the stock d16y8?

Thanks for your help! As i am new to civics.

The 99-00 front end conversion will bolt up with no spaces, as long as you use the 99-00 radiator support too. If you use the 96-98 it will take some work to get it looking right. The 99-00 rear bumper is different than the 96-98. The tail lights on the 99-00 are also different, just red and clear, whereas the 96-98 has amber in it too. Otherwise the cars are about the same, interior-wise the climate control is different also. I don't think you'd be able to get a b16 or h22 for 1500, but you could put together a decent turbo kit for that much and walk on stock b16's all day. However I like all motor cars because they seem to be more reliable, i'm pretty happy with my b16.

Not sure about the first question but as for the second - good luck finding either one of those for 1500!! But in case you do - b16 all the way dood. B16 are shown to handle boost very well and put out close to 300hp on stock internals but with a good tuning though.

Hmm I guess you could be right, I've just seen pics where there were big gaps and stuff, idk. My car came blessed with the 99-00 from the factory lol j/k. I love both front ends, but stock for stock I'd have to go for the 99-00 for sure. 96-98 can look nice as hell with just a few mods.
