ABS Light - Car dies.
Ok, heres a quick one. Car is an '01 Prelude, auto stick.
Car just had it's 30,000 mile check up 2 days ago. Was not driven yesterday, and today this: The ABS light comes on, the car lurches a couple times, and dies. If you turn it off, and then restart it, it runs for about a block and same thing happens. Odd one... Ideas? What all does honda do for the 30k check up?

they usually do a 150 dollar oil change, rotate the tires, check the % of brake pad you have left, top off any fluids that need topping off, then charge u 300 dollars for the entire deal.
basically, it's a 150-300 dollar oil change.
i would take it back and demand they fix the problem.

I think they adjust the valves, too. don't you have the receipt? if nothing else, call the dealer and find out what they did. different dealers have different schedules that they follow.
It runs for a block and then dies? that sounds a lot like a fuel problem. Check to see that the fuel pump is working and that the fuel line is clear. If they changed the fuel filter they may have screwed something up. check the line from the filter to the rail.
As for the ABS light? I haven't a clue. The ABS system has nothing to do with engine and is a fail save system. Even if it was completely non functional your car would still run and you would still have brakes (just not anti-lock)
This may also be some sort of wierd electrical problem but those are very hard to trouble-shoot.

Ok, I forgot to mention that it's my friends car, and I'm not sure that she was thinking clearly on the ABS Light. However I just got an update. Apparently, in addition to the car bucking and dying, and the ABS light going on, the Tach doesn't work, and the batter is nearly dead. I'm thinking somehow the ECU got jacked up, but it's at Honda now. Very strange...
If they adjusted the valves- they probably removed the harness that goes over the valve cover and to the alternator. Maybe they jacked something up here. I don't understand about the ABS light.
BINGO!
They got it in the shop, and found that the wiring harness that went to the alternator was not plugged in properly. The car was running off the battery only. Why the ABS was the first light to come on, I'm not quite sure, that's all they found wrong with it, and it runs fine now!
Other than the tow truck driver fuking up the front lip spoiler, but that's another story.
Thanks for the help y'all!
