Default H22 High Idle

The car is a 91 crx si with a JDM H22 with the H2B adapter plate. Coverted to obd-1 and at the moment im using a p13. Ill be getting a chipped p28 eventually.

The problem is when i start the car it idles at 4k rpm. After a few minutes of driving when the motor is warmed up it will idle at 2k rpm. Sometimes it will drop to 1500 - 2k rpm. Im throwing a knock sensor code but thats all. It doesnt come up all the time either just ocassionally. Im not getting an egr code like i thought i would either.

Ive tried 2 fast idle control valves, same deal with either one. Ive cleaned the screens on them a few times as well. Any ideas? Im stumped and Ive searched and just keep coming up with the fast idle valve. Oh the car the h22 ran fine when i pulled it, just had a front end accident, but engine ran fine.

on the throttle body if you are looking at if from the passanger side you should see a screw just above the inlet. with the car running turn that screw. i dont remember which way it is to lower the idle. i believe it is clockwise. not 100%. see if that helps your problem

I needed this information as well. After my swap, car idles right at 1900-2000

ive adjusted it as far as it would go and still no luck. tried both ways just to make sure and i think it was counter that raised the idle.

Same problem, swapped h22a into 96 hatch and ran fine for several months and only just recently started doing this. It used to idle at 900 rpms, then went to 2k, didnt bother me much but now it revs to 3k on cold start up. !?!?!?! lol crazy checked everything and even had a swap guru friend look at it and we plug and played parts and nothing worked !

might be a FITV problem, i idled reallyy high at cold startup, took off the fitv, cleaned and took off top and turned the inside all the way down, then back up a half turn, there is a write-up here (or one of the lude sites that brought it up after i googled "high idle at cold start" or something similar), took me a couple of minutes, could be it

Ok I posted asking this question before and would like to share my experience. One night after work the car started cold and reved up to 3k rpms. after warming up it idled at 2k and I drive it for a day or so but the high rev was terrible at the light bad enough the motor shakes the whole car ( h22~96 hatch ). So i combed over dozens of threads and youtube videos and decided I was a ninja at cleaning the IACV and cleaning/adjusting the FITV. This morning I tackled the IACV first removing it easily with 12mm rench and needle nose to catch hose clamps. After removing it I hosed it out thoroughly with carb cleaner (not brake cleaner as a mechanic said the brake cleaner has something caustic in it that you dont want on the inside of these parts). Let it dry for an hour or so and replaced it. Started the car and had the same issue, rev to 3k then 2k at warm up. So I got the 2inch ratchet out and I believe a 10mm and removed the FITV from the throttle body without having to remove the body itself or anything else but the lines on it. After I got the damn thing in my had I opened the 2 8mm Philips head screws and slid open the little lid only to have the FITV valve fall into my had straight away. Needless to say that is wrong so i disassembled it and cleaned it and the inside of the housing. upon replacing it I used simply a flat head screw driver but I pressed the brass head of the valve after a few turns to losen it up and it screwed all the way down locking in place at the bottom. I backed it off a quarter turn which was still tight and replaced the lid and FITV housing on the body. When I started it, bingo perfect idle shot straight to 2k after a min 1500 then 600 on idle. ( low but helps vibration in car). I dont know if this will help anyone but just trying to give back since the threads I found on here helped me so much !!!!
Thank you guys !
