How can i tell if my motor is really a JDM H22?

Default How can i tell if my motor is really a JDM H22?

i just got my motor today and i was wondering if there were some obvious markings or numbers that i can use to verify that its a jdm h22?Thanks in adavance

if you take off the head, it will be closed deck

but yeah, the engine code will be h22a

there will be no number after that

if you dont know, dont offer advice.

as stated before the engine code will only read h22a, it it says h22a1 or h22a4 it is a usdm motor.

all h22's that are obd 1 are closed deck and obd2 are open

is there somewhere online you can go to decypher the serial number on the block to see what year is was manufactured in?

well sorry. didn't realize usdm obd1 were closed deck too...........BUT i also stated there will be no number after the h22a so i'm still right

Here is a pic of the Block numbers off the engine, that little oval after the "A" is Hmotorsonline stamp which looks like this...(HMO)

i dont have a pic, but when looking down on the short block, there are open circles around the sleeves of an open deck, one a closed deck, there is aluminum filling those spaces...

the middle circle is the date, the two numbers on either side of the arrow are the year made, it looks like that says 92, remember the motors are made usually a year before the year of the car, so a 92 motor would most likely be a 93, for example, my h22a says 91, since h22s werent made in the us til 93 or japan til 92, 91 motor was from a 92 prelude....i believe the arrow points to the month but cant see clearly in the pic and cant remember what mine says

I was looking at that earlier wondering what the heck Honda that thing came out of... It looked extremely werid.. But I for sure didn't pay attention enough to see that it was only 2 clyinders!

how did u miss a that it was a ~70+mm 2 cylinder block?!?!? you gotta be jack bauer to use a long day excuse for a miss like that....anyways, its not a block, its hondas new k10a i-vtec cupholders
