Default 98 honda accord turbo overheating

hey im having a problem of overheating. The car is a 1998 honda accord lx with a t3/t4 hybrid turbo with apexi power fc standalone. The car overheats after sitting at idle for a while, but then is fine when i start driving it. i was wondering if their are any radiators out there for my car, i cant find one. i am also looking at heat wrap/shield and would like your advise if this would help. ive replaced the temp gauge with oem one. do i need an aftermarket one? also is vented hood a decent option thank you

vented hoods really don't help reduce heat that much but the heat wrap for your manifold is a good thing. Is it just your gauge that's telling you your engines overheating? check your thermostat and make sure its not half open or whatever and also check your h2o sensor cuz it may be that.

marblehead ma? another turbo 6th gen on the north shore? haven't seen you around.

you can make a fluidyne for a 5th gen accord fit but you have to cut/extend the mounting brackets about 1 inch.

overheating only at idle, that's odd, could be the thermostat as was already mentioned.

I had the same problem. I flushed my system and changed the thermostat but that didn't do anything. I then picked up a fluidyne radiator and that solved it.

Yeh boring *** marblehead, u havent seen me around because i had some transmission problems for a while, but they are all good now . Its a black accord lowered on racing hart rims. Anyways, i like the idea of the fluidayne radiator, is it hard to install and could u give me advise on the process? I also liked the idea of heat wrap or shield because it seemed very useful. But when i read some forums on wraps, they said that they are dangerous because they somehow bring up the temperature of the internals somehow? Thanks for the advise guys and keep it comin.

after work I'll try to dig up the fluidyne installation thread on E-H. stinker504 is the one who did this, maybe he'll throw the link out sooner than I can.

the main concern with heat wrap is that moisture can get inside it and cause your piping to corrode. i can't see it coming causing any problems w/ your internals tho??

I'm not far from you - Peabody. are you going to the h-t meet in NH in July?

I use the Turbosmart boost T MBC, easy to adjust, works good and it's only like $70.

My setup: built F23 (CP pistons, Crower rods), Drag turbo kit, AEM EMS, 750cc injectors, Action 2MD clutch, the list goes on and on.

To see what I've been going through with this damned thing check out this thread:

I'm happy to help with anything on the car, I'm a car addict. I've done all my own work, including the motor build and tuning (note: tuning is not nearly done yet). Hit me up via PM we should meet up sometime since you're right in the area. -B
