110V To 220V Transformer

110V To 220V Transformer
Has anyone on here used a transformer to power thier 220V welders ? I was planning on running a transformer on a 110V 20AMP Single outlet, cause my fowlkes are gonna flip if I run a 220V extension cord from the laundry room on out.......All help is greatly appreciated....

Yeah I didn't think it would, I just got an estimate on running the line and talked to the electrician.....it's cool no big deal just a minor setback

depending on your fuse box at home....
if you have old school twist on fuses just cut the power from the top of the fuse box, take a multimeter, find 220-240 v by touching probes to 2 leads on opposite sides of the box... probably confusing, and YES it is dangerous, but if you're careful, no harm done. take 2 hot wires, screw down on each side, then white(usually white) to ground/common.

Some welders have a multi-tap input, you could wire it for 110 and
it has an internal transformer. Other than that you would need a
125A breaker for the 110 cicuit to feed a transformer to output 220V
@ 60 amps... What size wire does the 220V cord use? That will tell me
what amp rating the welder needs. Your "extension cord" for the 110V
will have to be bigger than the cord for the 220 V so it's best to not use
a transformer. :D
