Default 01 CL type-S tranny concerns should i even buy one??????

ok so i am really thinking of buying Cl type s since i cant afford an e46 330ci but i have read so many horror stories about tranny. The one i am looking at has around 80k miles and it is from a private seller. If i buy it i would take it to the acura dealership and have them inspect it but i still am very concerened... if i bought it from a private seller does the warrenty still apply? if i took it to acura for an inspection would they be able to check properly to see if there is any tranny problems? i like the car and its a hell of a lot cheaper then the bmw but if i have to replace the tranny i might as well save up some more to get a 330ci

You would have better replys going to http://www.acurazine.com and going into the 2nd Gen CL forums. those forums are dedicated strictly for 2nd gen CLs. GL

I bought an 01 CL-S with an automatic that had 81K miles. My tranny shifts perfectly. I bought mine from a dealer though. It runs great. I would get yours inspected for sure though.
