Building speaker enclosures --- inside a door
How hard do you think it would be to replace the factory plastic speaker mounts with a sealed case/mount out of mdf and fiberglass?
has it been done before???
it makes sense to make asealed enclosure for you speaker.. just so it would sound better.. and make an "air spring" for that speaker in the door...
------------
I don't want to do a kick panel mounted speaker cause i want the interior to look stock~ish... and its a kick panel.. my friends/family aren't too considerate, so they might accidently "kick" my speaker......
------------
also if it is possible to make a sealed enclosure that fits in the door...without interfering with the window.... it should also be possible to angle it a few degrees....

i know that you can significantly improve the sound and lower the distortion with some sound dampening material (like dynomat) on the door behind the speaker. even a 10"x10" square will make a difference. it might be easier and sound almost as good to just do the whole door in dynomat. i also know that theres not much room behind the speaker and the window, thats probalby why nobodys done it before. not saying that it CAN"T be done though
most component/co-ax speakers are not designed for sealed enclosures - they will suffer peaky midrange and a loss of low end extension
More work + worse sounding speakers = teh lose
