alright, so i have a 1996 prelude si. about a month ago i got into an accident and really fucked up my front end. so i was bitching about losing my prelude to my friends cousin, and find out that his prelude (1993) is for sale, now, its not in great shape, but for the price, i think its a worthy risk. so heres my dilema: do i take the front end off the 93 and get my 96 fixed (potentially more money, and im on a tight budget as im starting college this august) or do i use the 93 shell, and just throw in all my 96 parts. any comments, suggestions, what have you would be appreciated as im going to be buying it this week. im pretty upset about losing my EL gauges, but i can deal for the time being. =P how difficult/expensive would it be to put my 96 Si engine in the 93? it has an oil leak, and i would rather just use my rebuilt Si engine. and besides the interior differences (
) is there anything i really need to worry about? ill post up some pictures of the cars as things go down.

this is what she looked like about a week before the accident, unfortunately i dont have any pictures of her washed, but you get the idea. stock besides CAI, exhaust, headers, tint, headlights, and some other cosmetic stuff.

that sux man. if it was wrecked to the point where there was frame damage, swap all the parts over to the clean shell
that is the dumbest thing that i have read on h-t all night
why would nobody want 93 parts? They may not be as "in demand" as 94+ but that is just in this tiny community, everyone else that needs a guage cluster for their Prelude doesnt know what EL stands for...actually a lot of people on here dont either. Just buy the 93 and drive it while slowly swapping over parts and saving money. Then decide if you want to swap over the other H23 or maybe youll have enough for an H22 and worse case senerio the 93 motor goes while you are driving it and you swap the motors then. It isnt an issue putting an OBDII motor in an OBDI car and you could probably find a local mechanic to do it for $500. Either way good luck

ha, well i personally like my cupholder/el gauges
if i didn't have them i wouldn't take time in finding the parts and installing it. i would just find another 94+ prelude

i read your story and i dont have a prelude myself, (hopefully getting a 93-96 shortly) but i think you should fix it, i've smashed up my little civic like 4 times because of A)falty braking power B) shitty florida drivers that stop on green lights C) yeah i didn't pay attention once, and i lost hope each time, and even tried to get a new car, but i fixed it, i made it better and now it looks really tight, dont give up man!

well i hit a telephone poll, so there is basicly a chunk about a foot wide missing from the front bumper and ending at the driver side wheel well. the car still runs, but obviously my bumper, headilghts, etc are fucked. it didnt destroy any internals besides the windshield washer fluid, and it moved over everything else thats in the corner. i figure its fixable if i can get a shop to cut out the chunk of the 93, and replace my "missing" part. thats honestly what i want to do. a local shop qouted me at 1000 dollars to put the 96 engine in the 93, which seems pretty expensive downgrade, when for a little bit more (ihope) i could just get my 96 fixed. ugh. i cant decide whats the better course of action.

(hiding behind a bush back when it had a big ol' spoiler on it ^^

like i said, pics dont do this car justice, when she was washed and waxed, HEAVEN. ill be the first one to say that the car wasnt perfect, but damn i loved it. ill get some crash pics up soon, im having it towed back to my place this week/weekend. the owner of the shop it was going to get fixed at decided that he didnt want to do it anymore, (i didnt know they could do that?) so yea. pics of the 93 soon too, hopefully. my moms really pushing me to junk the 96, sell the engine, and just buy a beater...
im in mass buy the 93 and keep that, sell me your 96 fucked prelude! i want it!
seriously though, if your wanting to rid your self of the 96, sell it to me im right in mass and have the ness part to fix it

the shop i went to, said it would cost 4g to fix. call me crazy, but that seemed a little steep... when i get both of the cars to my house, i guess ill have to make a decision as to what im going to do.
one quick question, exactly how much of the 93-96 parts are interchangable? would the hood release cable be interchangable? th eone on the 93 doesnt seem to work..
and prelittlelude, id be more than willing to sell you my 96, if thats the route i decide to take. but i wont kno for a nother few days, if im lucky.

man it sucks............I got hit by a drunk driver in my CD5........front end looked like somebody had stepped on it.....I'm talking battery exploding, hood crack 1/3 way in half, window broken, air bags BOOM!, I sold the car for 2000 because it had a fresh H22 in it that still ran............I bought/built 7 cars after that 94 accord..it was my first honda, my love
or to percise what turned me out to tuning!! lol I had the opportunity to get it back FIXED!!!!!!!! the mexican who I sol it to Cut the frame rails, core support, e.t.c. And welded/fiberglassed a 96 front end to my 94 body!!!! haha I drove it, the frame had got straghitend on a rack. Drove straight tracked straight...traded him a built low 14 sec GSR eg(14.22), for my Accord back(15.10)........call me dumb but I feel you to the fullest that this car is your baby and like a part of you. Post pics of the damage, if it's not as bad as mine was FIX it!!!! or you'll be like me 3 years after the accident still missing it
But alot people who sell or trash there first "baby" never get a chance to get it back. It's up to you to see how much you love your car.
good luck man at whatever you do

I was actually asking for pics of your car with the damage so it could give me a better idea if fixing it is worth it.
As for the swapping parts over question, yes, everything swaps over. Swapping the center console will require a little fabrication though. You will need to re-drill the mount for the emergency brake. You will need to swap over the dash harness from your 96 with your EL guage too. Other than that, it should be plug-and-play.
If I were you, I would swap over the EL guages, center console, door panels, seats (assuming they are in better condition), wheels, climate control (the fan and the heat controls. The earlier models had issues with the soldering connections). Maybe swap over the AC system too since it is newer. You have fog lights too. Hopefully they are both fine. If so, swap them over too.
Waaaaaaaaaaaait, you put a VTEC sticker on an Si Prelude? NOOOOOOOOOO!!

haha yea i bought the car with the spoiler (which i took off) and the M@@dd Vtak sticker was on there when i got it too. i was hoping to have it debadged/repainted soon, so i wasnt going to bother dealing with all the stickers and whatnot yet.
EDIT
so the shop that is currently holding my car called. they apologized for dropping the ball on my car (they havent even looked at it since my accident) and said that they will look into the price of a quater clip for my car. so with a little luck, it wont be too expensive and i can get it fixed. anyone want my rims? im most likely going to be getting rid of them assuming i keep the car.
from expereince/educated guess, how much should i expect for a quater clip? i wouldnt think more than a few hundred..
