use a obdo-obd1. you dont need to use a obd2 one unless your going to run the ctr ecu. might as well grab a new clutch/flywheel combo, water pump, all gaskets and timing belt while the motor is out and its easier to work on.

not correct, get an engine conversion harness

http://www.rywire.com

http://www.ardperformance.com

both sell them for reasonable prices.

i disagree, the car will not run properly with the wrong ECU.

i stand corrected then. i guess you need the ctr ecu for the ctr motor. what i should have wrote was if your going to use some kind of engine management other than the ctr ecu ( like hondata) then go with obd1

eh, i still disagree. it can be done but my opinion on the matter is that honda designed it that way for a reason. you can still hondata an OBD-2 ecu

My opinion aswell.

My brothers an idiot, plain and simple.
Im tryin to get him to get a B16 from an XSI, but he insists on spending an extra $2k for an additional 25hp.

I told him if he's gonna spend $3800 on a B16B, he should shell out a lil more for a ITR.

If he gets the B16B Im gonna have him go OBD-1 with a chipped ecu for the engine, and correct me if this is wrong, but this is going by Ryan from Rywire as to what I need:
-B16B
-B Series Mounts
-Hydro Tranny Kit
-OBD0 to OBD1 ECU harness
-Vtec subharness
-chipped ECU

I know it needs new Water Pump, seals, gaskets etc
I plan on having him get em.

Is there any reason beyond Honda having made it that way?

he should get the cheaper B16 swap with the cable trans..... easier to install, cheaper too.

the extra money spent on the B16B that he'll save, he could buy parts to bump up the HP to well above what the b16b puts out.

this is going into an EF, correct?

instead of wasting the cash on that trans and cable to hydro conversion,

buy a custom cable trans from gearspeed with a better LSD. i'm sure it'll be around the same price, and probably better in the long run.

Streetwerks you know i respect you but i'll have to disagree.
Honestly with I'd doubt that.
1500 ish for ITR tranny and hasport kit.

What does gear speed one and a good lsd *only one I'd even use is quafie* thats 900 there and healthy B cable trannies are going up insanely. lets say you get an LS for 200. Ok your at 1100, and still need gears and probbly install unless your pretty damn handy.

just my .02.

he should buy the cheapest swap out there.... get it in, running , wired up.

and with all the cash he saved.... buy the upgrades and sell off that stock trans and other things to put even more cash in his pocket or towards mods.

true, but i also said "long run"

meaning, a fresh rebuild. who knows, he could spend all that cash and get a haggard ITR trans. i still think this would be a smarter way to do things...
