New guy checking in
Hey all...new to the whole Honda scene. Up until about three days ago, I was looking into an Evo IX. However, I decided to be responsible and not spend my hard earned cash on such an expensive car. The only issue is, that still leaves me needing a car.
So far, I'm leaning towards a 97+ Prelude. Probably the base model because I'll more than likely mod it. I've done my best to search around, go through the FAQ(s) and generally read as much as possible before posting. I don't have anything specific to ask (in a technical sense), but if anyone is up to the task, I'd like to know why I should get a Prelude, or even a Honda for that matter.
I realize this is ENTIRELY opinion dependent, and each person is different. But...if you have some free time, humor me. In the meantime, I'll continue to look around and use the search feature.
Why I chose a Honda/Prelude:
A. Price (under 10k)
B. Gas mileage (not bad)
C. Reliability (big plus)
D. Plentiful mods/easy to mod
E. Cheaper insurance
F. Value retension (better over a lot of cars I've owned)
G. N/A potential (I always told myself I'd go N/A if I got a Honda)

Trust me, not an auto fan.
I realized newbie posts like this are frowned upon...so I'll be back in a week when I can actually do something other than read.

id go with a 4th gen (92-96) because they are a little quicker than the 97+. the only preblem is it may be hard to find a 4th gen in good condition. if you cant find a 4th gen with vtec you could always do an h22 swap. its one of the cheapset honda motor swaps you can do. but if you want to go for a 97+ go ahead becasue i think they look a little better.

an h22 swap is far from the cheapest swap
with that being said, have you looked into 94-01 integra gsr's. the fun factor is considerably higher.
either way, good luck

Honestly, a GSR is my FIRST choice. Though, finding one is damn near impossible. Or at least, has been for me. Either they have a fart can on it, and some Home Depot CAI and want 10,000+ for the car, or it's a salvage, or riced to hell, etc. I want a nice CLEAN little N/A powered car. If I can find a GSR, I'll be in heaven. But I didn't want to get my hopes up.
