Alarm causing ignition cutoff???
This has happend ever since I bought my car, but recently it has been happening more frequently and is an annoyying problem....
Maybe once or twice a month, Ill go to start my car and --- nothing. It dosent turn over or anything, like I have a dead battery, ecept all the eletricals go on fine.
Anyway I leave it alone for about 5-15 minutes, and then BAMM, works fine for a few weeks.
Any ideas? I think it has soemthing to do with the alarm system. It was installed in the car before I bought it, so I dont know what kind it is.
Its like the system thinks the alarm is going off, so it wont let me start the car... except the alarm ISNT going off! (btw this has happened with the alarm both armed and disarmed...)
It happened once at my mechanics shop, and all he did was take a big screwdriver and touched 2 lines together under the hood (while the key was in the ignition) and it started right up. (its a '97 integra)
Is there any way to disable this ignition-kill feature? I know its hard to say without the alarm name, model, etc. but any help would be appriciated.
OR is it some ignition prob with my car that has nothing to do with the alarm? PLEASE HELP!

Drop the underdash, find where the alarm wires connect to the ignition harness and see if there's been an interrupt relay installed. Remove (or replace, since it sounds like it's going bad) the relay.
