Gear shift stuck!

Gear shift stuck!
In a 98 Accord. I put the key in, start the car, press the brake and put the car into gear. Yet the car will not go into gear. What is wrong? Anyone have this problem? It takes up to 10 mins. messing with it to get the car out of park.

How do you get the trans into gear when you can't even get the shifter out of park?
Check if your brake lights are working. If not, then you have a bad brake light switch. If they are working, you need to check your interlock solenoid to see if it's goin bad. If that works, then you have a problem with the wiring either from the ignition or from the brake light switch.
