Default H22 vs H23 (low end)

I have JDM H22 my buddy has EDM H23. we raced from a roll both in first gear at about 2K rpm and only in first gear he pulled almost a car on me. i couldnt catch up untill the end of second and i'm a good driver with more then enough experience. is it normal? i know H23 has more low end power but is the difference so noticable?

well, yes.. If you would have raced from 4500 rpms then the story would have been much different..

The H23 makes "the same torque" on paper as an H22, but 1000 or so rpms lower, and has much more torque lower than that as well, across the board..

On dyno's I have seen however, H23's put down around 140-150 lb ft. to the wheels, usually the same or more torque than hp.. H22's seem to put down less..

Def don't start a roll from 2000 rpms, thats suicide!

we were just having fun. yes 2000rpm roll on H22 is death. i'm experienced racer, both on the racetrack and on 1/4 but it was lude vs lude i realy wanted to see the difference not just on a paper. i didnt expect H23 t odo so well H23 has max torque on 4300 while H22 has on 5500. also it seems like H23 puts more percent of its max torque on lower RPMs then H22

its about area under the curve, and its has to do with where peak torque happens, the h23 just has more all out torque. the only disadvantage is it can't carry the torque for as long as the h22 carries its lower torque.

hence why the h22 has more horsepower.

stock h22's suck below 4k rpm.

true, i can feel significant gains at 4k rpm on H22, then the VTEC kicks in and its gone
