Default H22a oil consumption question

ok here is the story... i have 96 cd7 accord with 1998 JDM H22a that was honed and reringed awhile ago, the engine had bigger injectors on stock p13 obd2 so it was running rich and is contantly burning oil especially in Vtec, i would go through about 1 qt per week, well i changed back to stock 290 cc injectors and took out accord resistor box and still burns oil just as bad, doesnt smoke as much anymore but still burns oil the same. What can solve my problem? Do i have to machine the block with oversized pistons/rings?

And another oil question, the engine always ran castrol synthetic blend and 4 or 5 months ago i switched to mobile 1 full synthetic and burning as much as it does i have to spend $60 a month on oil, at my work we use synthetic blend that i can use for free, is it safe to switch back to the castrol blend with out damaging my motor? Its my daily driver so i cant afford to be out of a car if i throw a rod.

the JDM ecu is configuered to run rich. if u dont want it to run rich u need to get a new ecu.

you probably have worn out rings from using gasoline to lubricate them while running very rich.

Make sure who ever did your hone did it right, Honda has a VERY tight spec that lots of shops cant match... if your hone was done wrong or out of spec that would cause your motor to eat oil like that.. a normal h22 should burn oil in vtec but not a quart a week... You can overbore and hone again but if you dont follow the hone procedure then you will be in the same place again..

how much do you think a performance shop would normally charge for putting in oversize type s pistons with rings and honing the block?

yes, h22's due to their special sleeve material require a special honing process, possibly your machine shop was not aware of this and honed like a standard iron sleeved block...could be the cause of your excessive oil consumption
