Something is happening between 60' (pretty good, esp. for street tires) and 1/8th mile - which is a good 3-5/10ths slower than it should be. If you're shifting at 7400 as indicated on the dash tach, you are probably shifting too soon and dropping briefly out of VTEC in second. Try shifting at 7900-8000 on the dash tach - just before you bang the rev limiter. As an aside, the dash tach in my 97 read several hundred RPMs higher than the digital tach in my Field unit indicated. In fact, you were probably shifting at closer to 7000-7100 RPMS.
