I thought my vtec wasnt working for the past year. seemed like it just didnt pull at all and was quieter than it should be when vtec kicked in. I checked everything and even swapped the head. I got numerous people to look at it, and they were all stumped.

Well my friend suggested that i checked the airfilter and make sure its ok, just for kicks...

It was super dirty and alot of junk fell out when i knocked it on the ground. Put it back in, now my car is a beast.

Just remember guys, check your airfilter regularly. haha.

i never thought the filter could ever be that dirty, and i didnt realize that it always looks clean from the top.

nah i couldnt fgure out why my car wouldn't start last night, though dizzy wires were crossed (trying to put an obd1 dizzy in obd0 harness, not fun) turns out batery was dead.

One time my car was running really slow at the track. I was pulling mid 14's with good 2.2 60 ft's. Then the next day I was driving in the rain and I went through a deep puddle then my car stumbled really bad and shot alot of smoke out of the exhaust. It only got reall bad when I would try to get boost. Turns out my filter was soo dirty when It would get wet it would just clogg up. Took the filter off and it ran better then ever!

 

how often do u have to clean ure filter???
and how do u clean it? ive been told u should soak it in petrol for a while then just rinse it with water??
i havent cleaned mine till date can u guys help me out?

if you have a k&n, rinse it off with water and let it dry, then put the filter oil on it. if you have a cheap one, just buy another.

 

It works much better if you buy the cleaner for it.

Remeber to only rince from the inside of the filter.

I'll let everyone in on a little secret. The K&N 'special' filter cleaner, is nothing more than engine degreaser
Just soak it with that for 10 minutes, and rinse from the inside like was said above. If you cant find the filter oil, they have it at bike shops. Its like 10w oil, only really tacky.
