did you use the gasket>

Yes! I have an h22a4 in my street car right now with a h23 oil pan ( same as the h22

 

what year h23 and did it need a gasket

No. Maybe thats why It hit the pickup. Perhaps it was to close to the block. At any rate I didnt have a gasket on hand.

All h23 use the same oil pan. Yes I used the conventional oil pan gasket
