How to test an A/C Compression out of the car?
How can I test my AC Compressor while it is outta the car? It is just sitting in my room, and I want to put it back in, but not if it doesnt work. Is there any way to test it while it is out of the car?
Not really. You can turn it by hand and make sure it turns smoothly and doesn't bind up, but you can't really test it's proper function or check for noises without mounting it up and charging the system.
well it worked great last summer, than one day it just started blowing warm air. then i took it out when i did and engine swap.
So would you think it just needed a recharge?

Lack of charge is definately the most likely cause, but it could've been other problems too. Did it blast refrigerant out when you disconnected it?
I guss that was a bad way of asking, as even slight pressure in the A/C system will make a hose blast off while disconnecting it... Really, without knowing the refrigerant pressures prior to removing the compressor, the only way to know will be to mount it up and try it out. Unless there's some kind of compressor dyno out there that I've never heard of. But if I were a betting man I'd say it's probably fine and was just low on refrigerant. I've only seen one or two bad Honda compressors in the 6 or so years I've been a tech. And one of those was because a compressor clutch fried and heated up enough to damage the snout of the compressor. The internals were probably fine. Just remember that if you or someone else is gonna use it, drain the oil out of it and refill with the proper amount of the correct oil.
evacuate, vacuum down for 30, hold for 15 or 5..if doesnt hold there is a leak, when replacing the compressor, turn over and let oil drain out, the refil with proper amount of oil..
