Vtec\Ls? Something horribly wrong here.
I went to my buddy's house to check out this B16A1 motor he got for 50 bucks. this is what I found. It is a b16A1 motor. A friend of his came over and swore that it was a vtec motor. Check out the so called vtec solenoid. I looked over it and I don't know if the block is vtec or not. I can not really find any good info on a B16A1 motor. The water pump had 20 teeth. The block had Oil pumps below the pistons. It appears to be a vtec block. Except for the 20 teeth on the water pump. but that could be changed. Now for the head. It had no third cam lobe, No Vtec solenoid (unless this is one oddball). The cam gears were rounded on the edges like a ZC motor. I believe that this is the leftovers from a F* up LS\Vtec swap. It was just weird.

Those definitely aren't VTEC cams...

thats not a screw up of a LS VTEC, its straight up a B16 block with a non-VTEC head... no one would ever swap that, he needs a new B16 head
Isn't the D16 single overhead cam, it can't possibly be a d16 head. Most likely a B18B head. Which motor had the PGM-FI stamped on the intake mani?

incorrect the 89 integra with the flip up head lights came with a DOHC D16A1.
We did a Vtec/LS on my buddy car with the left over parts from a LS/Vtec it ran like ****, but it was fun and something new to try out.

Thanks Captian Obvious.
Thanks Captian Obvious.
It's a D16A1. Not a B, you can clearly see that in the pic. It's the DOHC D series that came in 1st gen Integras. It's nearly identical to the DOHC ZC, except with different mount locations and less power.
my B18a stomped my buddys single cam VTEC '96 stock for stock, both auto, he was kinda pissed so he threw his phone.. he got a VTECH, so now i can say my DOHC non-VTEC stomped a SOHC VTEC so bad i put the H back on!!!
and it hung with my other friends manual civic '01 non-VTEC
