Hi forum. I have some weird news i was driving last night missed a gear now the car wont start at all. The engine sounds like it wants start but it just sounds like the battery is dead. Thats not the case cause i used the battery on a hoist to tow the car on a trailer. Does anyone ever had this happened or even know where to go and what to look for your help will much appreciated thankyou

shouldnt be a problem since he said it wont start...

If you seriously over-rev'ed it...then it was the money shift. Plus side is that this is a great time to have the engine bored-out for over sized pistons to give a bit more displacement...balanced and blue print the engine...have some head work done for better flow and have titanium valve spring retainers installed. If you gotta shell out the money...might as well make it worthwhile.

its not the battery if the starter is working, the car just wont turn over. if the battery was dead there would be no sound just silence. all your battery does is give a little juice to the starter, then it has no function for driving...the alternater takes over...so a driving mishap wouldnt damage the batteries charge.
2nd if you missed a gear do u mean u grinded the gear? thats a tranny issue not the engine, meaning this is unrelated issue. or if u meant u down shifted by accident the worst u could do is redline, maybe a sudden rpm jerk to redline could damage something i dont know. but if it was only for a few seconds till u pushed in the clutch
i dont see it being major, i would think the enginge could handle that...
is the car newer or used? there are so many possibilities based on the details of your story that we cant help you, u need someone to physically look at the car, and if its under honda warranty, dont tell them that u banged up the gears, just play stupid and say it wont start, u dont know why...goodluck, after all this typing u better keep us informed...

It would be great if the rev-limiter would prevent the money shift. But on the S2k (and most cars) the rev-limiter will not engage if you accidently hit 3rd when you were trying to go to 5th from near redline in 4th. The engine will over-rev...valves will float...pistons will strike the valves...and it will cost major $$ to fix.
BTW...I do not recommend testing this to see if I'm right about the rev-limiter not engaging in that situation. You will unhappily find I'm right and you will more than likely damage your motor.

I'll be really impressed if all it needs is valves. Most times when the valves strike the tops of the piston, the piston is damaged. However, you may end up being one of the lucky few who only need a head rebuild.
NOTE!! No matter what, make sure you get them to install titanium retainers. You will probably have to buy them for them and they are a little more expensive. But they are well worth the extra cost for the peace of mind...stock s2k retainers are known to crack on cars driven hard, which can lead to a dropped valve and another expensive rebuild.
