Accord '93 Front wheel noise
Greetings to,
Do I need a special tool to replace the front bearing on my Accord '93?
Or should I take the hub with a new bearing to a shop and ask them to install for me?
Thanks and best regards,
Ista

I would take it to a shop because thay would know more about that and thay would have done more so they would know what to look for. But as in tools you would need there are some out there but i have no clue..
The howling noise starts when driving over 60 km/h.
The nosie will change when switching lanes as well or turning the steering wheel a bit in either direction.
However, when making a full turn in either direction there is no clicking noise.
The cv boots on both cv axles are not torn apart.
All these suggest that it is the bearing rather than the cv axle.
Any suggestions?

Ista

Could be tires too.
When my front wheel bearings on my VW went bad is sounded like it was running on snow tires at 30 mph. loud as hell at 60 mph

that sounds like a wheel bearing to me, i had same problem when i was on the highway it sounded like a CV shaft it was kinda da-da-da-da, i pulled my wheels off and spun the hub and listened to the noise, the bearing should be smooth and quiet if u hear like scratching, thats an unserviceable bearing.... then you gotta get it pressed out of the hub
Thanks for the info.
When you pulled the wheels off, did you:
1. Put the trans on Neutral
2. Remove the cv axle from the hub
Or did you do something else?
The reason why am asking is how to check the bearing?
This howling noise sounds verymuch like the one you get when the cv axle goes bad, but the axle does not show any problem.

I would go to cb7tuner.com and do a search. They have all the info. you'll ever need for our cars. I have a 93 LX and I know they posts about removing the wheel bearing, just go there and look.
