Default Methods and formula's for calculating runner lengths/diameters and plenum volume??

Im curious what you guys are using to come up with your intake manifold specifications? If there are any particular formulas to use or possibly websites with a calculator, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Google "Scientific design of intake and exhaust systems"

I searched on several different occasions with various combinations of the words "plenum", "volume", etc. Ive come up with nothing. If you know of any threads dealing with this topic, please post the links up in this thread. Id be very interested in checking those threads out.

Very outdated. I regret not having read the reviews here prior to purchasing this book. The last time this book was updated was 1972! There is nothing in the way of forced induction. Turbochargers are not mentioned and there is a single reference to superchargers on page 17! "Fuel Injector" is mentioned once. I am definitely sending this one back. Not the first time I have been disappointed with Bentley Publishing. FYI, 1972 was the year Pong came out. As I said, the book desperately needs to be updated.

This person obviously doesn't understand that the laws of physics and thermaldynamics don't change.

One of these posts should be a sticky.

Although intake manifold design has a lot of factors, you can use these three things as good thumb rules:

1) To select runner CSA: http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/runnertorquecalc.html
2) To select runner length: The bgsoflex site.
3) To select plenum volume: Displacement * 1.0 to 1.5

Does anyone happen to knoe the distances from port entry to valve head for the B, H and K cylinder heads?

thermodynamics

youre right too. im reading the book now and it's pretty good.
it would be hard to understand if you werent a physics or engineering person though.

you talking centerline or top or bottom of the port?
also if youre making a manifold, why dont you just measure it?
