Breaks and Rotors...and break in?
I am needing a brake replacement for my 99 civic ex. the car has 109k miles now. the rotors dont seem too bad but i was thinking of turning the rotors...then i read when i did a search that replacing them is better. how much is it to turn the factory ones? If I do get new front rotors, what are good ones to get? Autozone/AdvanceAutoParts fine? They both have a lot, some from $12 to $ 39. im just doin the front 2 wheels for now.
Also about breakin, do brakes need to really be broken in? Im looking for good brake pads but dont know whatto get. when i hadmy last cat i think i had carbon-metalic pads.

get ceramic pads, they stop really good but leave a little more break dust. and for the break in just drive it down the street. accelerate to 30 mph and then barke to a stop. do it 3 times and it should be fine
When you do your brakes it is a very good idea to have them turned. Lot cheaper most of the time to turn them instead of buying all new ones. Are you going to be changing brake fluid?
brake break-in prodecure is called bedding-in. Follow the procedure here: http://www.stoptech.com/tech_i...shtml

I allready did my fluid a bit ago but i might do it again, not today tho...i just got done rewiring the inside of my car with all my audio stuff so im a little tired so i might do that another day soon.

I just got brembo blanks and OEM pads. Some people will tell you the autozone blanks are just as good, but I've always had brake pulsing problems on all my family's hondas with chepo rotors.

doesnt getting them turned lessen the braking power...meaning that since the rotor is thinner, it will make u press the pedal down farther?
Do you know what type of material the OEM pads are made out of? What is the best? last ones i had on my car(my other car b4 my civic) was carbon metalic i think it was, about $40 with a lifetime warranty at autozone. do ppl want OEM because they are made specifically for the car by the factory or do they have superior braking power over aftermarket ones?

Yeah I dont race or anything. my car is 100% stock except for audio things

Nope, the reserve fluid in the master cylinder resevior automatically compensates for brake pad and rotor wear. You dont have to push the brake pedal further down when the pads are worn do you
?</TD></TR></TABLE>
true. sry i posted that lastnight when i was falling asleep
so i wasnt thinkin too clearly. overall are ceramic pads the best to get? the thing i want most is stopping power
but not for racing or anything. this is just a daily driver
I read a lot that ceramic eat the rotors up faster also. Also i read somewhere that with ceramic brakes, you wont get the initial "bite" of stopping power that u would getwith semi-metalic pads, but it will stop faster, is that true?
Does Oreilly Auto Parts do the rotor work to turn them? i think they do flywheels but not sure about rotors
