Leaded gas in built all motor car, no emissions crap, SAFE??? Need answers ASAP, PLEASE!
First off to state, this seems like a weird thread, but after I have an OCD with my car, no lie at all. I just need some reassurance help, thanks much!
I'm finally getting to the dyno Saturday to get the hatch fully tuned. I haven't really been driving it with the new setup becuase of this. I was using VP MS103 for tuning the low cam up to about 4500, and this was just enough of a tune to safely get the car to a show it had to be at, above 4500 it is still on the old map from the old head, cams and header. Now on to the question at hand. My local shop I was getting my MS103 stopped carrying it and started getting C12. It has a motor octane rating of 108, so the actual M+M/2 octane is around 113-114. Now, I can also get Sunoco Standard race gas at the pump here which is 105 motor octane with a research octane of 115, the R+M/2 octane rating is 110. Would I be able to run this gas in my car? I have NO emissions crap, just necessities to run. It is significantly cheaper to get the Sunoco than the C12 also and it is ALWAYS available. ALSO, I can get the VP MS103, but I can only get in 55 gallon drum, as a local shop has 1 drum left in stock, but I really don't have a place to store it safely. Here's a little run down of my specs:
85x89 - yielding 12.8-13.0:1 compression
RLZ B16 head (good amount milled off)
BC4's (version "A")
DTR 2.0L header
TWM 50mm ITBs
Full 3" exhaust, only one 23 degree bend in whole thing
Any advice here is greatly appreciated. The car is in no way a daily driver, so I want it tuned to the fullest, and not running on 93 with a ton of timing pulled. Would I be alright using the Sunoco Standard 110 to tune and drive this car?
