Default B16 in DA9. Is it a good idea?

I'm thinking about swapping a B16 into my DA9. I know the motor is a direct replacement, but I heard the B16 isn't enough motor for an Integra. But why did the JDM Integra Xsi come with one then. I'm thinking of getting the OBD1 B16 package from PasswordJDM. Is this a good idea? Are they a reputable engine supplier? any other ideas for about $2200?

*** the B20. I have one in my car right now. It runs flawlessley, but it's not legal here in California to have a "light duty truck" engine in a "passenger vehicle". I want my vehicle to be legit and smog compliant. Hell, if you want my car I'll sell it to you. It is in perfect running condition and has a CLEAN title. It is very, very reliable. It has 98,000 miles. The following is a list of stuff that has been done to it:
Brand new, low mileage B20B(non VTEC)
S1 Transmission
ViS Carbon fiber hood
JDM one piece head lights
Brand new 15" 5Zigen FNO1R-C rims (Matte black) and Khumo Ectsta Tires
Perfect black/grey upholstery (No rips, tears, or stains)
Color is red, No body damage
Does NOT leak any fluid and does NOT burn a drop of oil.
I use Mobil 1 pure synthetic religiously
Crack in windshield I am asking $3,500 o.b.o. I am also willing to trade for a 92-93 Integra.

fuvk a B16, too weak. I would rather have a strong low mileage B18B than a B16.

I had a B16 in a 1990 RS.

I liked it just fine. It'll be as quick as an EM1 Si, and gives you great bang for the buck.

For the price of a b16b, I pick the b16a anyday. But b16a in a da is not bad. How can it be, it was designed to go with the da chasis.

i personally do not like the b16 for any integra chasis...its better in the DA's than in the DC's but i still think 100ft/lbs of torque is disgusting...not that 120+ will rip you from your seat...but why get rid of the little torque there may have been in the first place

and to the OP for 1800-1900 you can get yourself a GSR longblock from http://www.hmotorsonline.com

b16's are the torqueless wonder

that are decent in a hatch but a larger car like an integra would be horrible

it would feel alright with the b16 cable tranny which has extremely short gears

opt for the b20 or a hybrid lsvtec motor that will provide torque and power

Who's a better engine supplier (Shipping, price, waranty, guarantees, quality, etc...): PasswordJDM or Hmotorsonline? Any experience with these suppliers anyone?

OK, So Hmotors for sure. But should I go with a good B18B or a B16? Personally, i'd rather just sell my car and get a 92-93 DA that I've wanted to get for the last 5 years. Anyone want to trade thiers for my red one above?

Why should I leave the B16 alone? Essentialy, it could be considered a stock replacement, right? I dont want a long-block either, I want a 100% complete motor, would a GSR be worth the extra $1000? Does a 94+ GSR bolt directly into place in a DA9? I'd rather just sell this car and start over clean I think. Any opinions?

b16 in a DA is liveable..but down the road, you wont be satisfied. youre gonna want more tq/power. personally, id only get the b16 to drive around while building a bottom end b18 which i am about to do for the next month. but thats just me.

good idea for a b16 in a DA?

yes-if you just wanted an engine replacement

no-if youre in it to win it

Are you visually imparied? That's an OEM ViS Carbon Fiber hood. I guess it does look kinda funny. But I assure you it looks just like an OEM hood. Look at the side view pic. No hood scoop there.

first off def go with hmotoros for whatever you decide to get. secondly i own a 92 gsr that i bought with a b16 full swap out of a jdm xsi and i thought it moved for what it was. i raced 2 gsr's the same year at both the track and a quick run on the highway and won both times. all i had is i/h/e and i squeezed a 14.9 out of it. i now have a jdm itr motor but id say the b16 wouldn't be a bad choice if your $$ is limited.
