Syncrowave 200. You could get it locally or order it from a couple places. I suggest Indiana Oxygen Company. I bought my last machine from them and it came very quickly.

He said new Miller, so thats why I recommended the Syncrowave. The TA is also a good machine.

A train isnt that chad barber? does it need to be portable? In my opinion get the dynasty the syncrowave is getting old. The syncrowave is heavier uses transformer (takes more electrical power) the dynasty uses the inverter and is 40lbs i say dynasty.

Yea and the dynasty costs about $1k more than the syncrowave. I would take a dynasty over a TA 185 any day.

I'm torn between the Synchrowave and Dynasty right now. I've welded quite a bit on a Dynasty, but never used a Synchrowave. Is the Dynasty really worth the extra $1000 or so?

If you do alot of aluminum, yes. If you do mainly steel, no.

This is true however you need to know the settings before you weld on this or your welds will look like crap.

i learned on a Synch250 and it's a really good machine - it has only 2 real weaknesses imo:
#1 - below 30 amps, it doesn't have as fine and consistent of an arc as I'd like - of course it only matters when doing .040" SS or less
#2 - it lacks HF (it has HF start, but doesn't have normal HF) - which means less control and wider beads (particularly on T-joints) on Al ~.080" and less

if #1 and #2 are of particular importance to you, then I'd say the decision is rather easy - it's less a matter of "a thousand bucks more" than "pissing away two grand on something that doesn't do what you want"

square wave allows u to control the arc more doesn't it? on millers sight it says the dynasty does not have square wave technology and the syn does. and does thermal arc have a website because u guys got me interested in the 185 being that i do alot of aluminum and it has a hell of alot of features pulse, square wave, etc.
(sorry if it seems like im thread jacking)
but out of a dynasty 200dx and a TA 185 which would u choose? cause those are the two im set on. what outlet has to be used to power these 2 units.

one more question......... whats the deal with the transformer and the inverter? i really dont know anything about electronics

yo dave, i suggest stopping by mahany welding, I took a welding class there through RIT, they use the dynasty 200dx in the class.

I was talking with the owner, and they sell those class machines. I am sure you could get a good deal on a used dynasty from them.

HTP Invertig 201
http://www.htpweld.com/product....html

I did a lot of research when going to buy my welder and I ended up with this unit. This machine has almost the same specs as the Miller Dynasty 200 DX and is some regards it's even better. When I called their pre-sales support was awesome. When I had some questions afterwards they were also very helpfull. I ordered mine with a water cooled torch and got a used water cooler from ebay. Some times you can even get machines the factory uses for demo\training on ebay too.

I have welded from aluminuized steel exhaust pipe, aluminum intercooler pipe, to magnisium oil pans with this unit and I am one very happy camper.

I just noticed that a well known tuner in the Miata community also uses them.

I use the Miller Dynasty 200DX and I am very very impressed with it. I have been using it a year at my shop, and I have not had a single problem. I weld a lot of SS and Aluminum with it. I also use the watercooled torch with it. I can weld all day and it never heats up on me.

Default Digital Readouts

The invertig has two digital readouts just like the Miller.

I took a TIG class there at night a couple days a week last November. It wasn't through RIT, but it was 4 weeks of all TIG. He mentioned something about selling those machines for a good price, so I'm going to go out there sometime this week and ask.

I have a lincoln precision Tig 275 Paid somewhere near 4k with a new helmet, bottle lease grinder etc. I love it, it will hold an arc at less than 5 amps. I can run it for 8 hours and doesnt miss a beat

The customer service with HTP is really good I was talking to them today and read some replys off of other welding forums, there machines are made in italy the only thing I could possible see as a downside is you can only send it back to htp to sevice it but its a light welder.

It doesnt have fan on demand like Miller does but it has 3 fans and its the heaviest of inverter tig welders out of the group.
