Well you never get as much done as you think you will. This is a 4-1 and some things would already have to be change for the next iteration, but I built it with some custom bent tubes that I already had to try and "speed" things up a bit. The #3 tube angle isn't the best but we still need to test. Not sure how feasible this header will be for a street car due to the work it would take to install. There just isn't enough space in between the engine and the cross member. Does anyone know if an aftermarket cross member is available? I may look into building one depending on the dyno results with this header. Also due to the size of tubing used and the 4-1 design, some ground clearance is lost compare to stock or a DC. The next one I build will be a 4-2-1.
BTW, the cross member lost its fight with the saw.
Here are a few shots.

The pictures of the cross member maybe to painful for some eyes so I'll wait to post pictures after it's be modded/welded.

yes, we need to work on that a little bit... guys, Dave is really close to working this thing out, but him and I both know why no one made a 4-1 for this car, NO ROOM!!!! It will be VERY, VERY hard to get a 4-1 header in without even slight cutting of the subframe.... Don't worry though, more R&D will be done...
BTW, I am SO excited about this, a header like this has NEVER been done on a prelude, and am very proud to be the First top of the line 4-1..... Hopefully, we can make it to a dyno this week before my first race

If it has to be, my cross-menber will lose too. If that what it takes for this header. I've been waiting so long for this for the H22A ever since they came out with the one for the B series. All i need to know is when I can get it and how much its going to take to get it to me.
Hmmm, what are the expected numbers? And what are the rest of the mods that this header is working with? I'm guessing it'll work well with a high CR motor spinning 8k+.
Please post the dyno ASAP!...as well as a number to order one of these!

The rulebook for the honda-challenge doesn't allow a lot of mods, which is fine for me, because it keeps the costs down....
He is doing 2 things, trying to make a header that he can produce with little or no mods to the prelude, and making one before my first race at CMP...
Don't mean to dampin the spirts but that's a bad design for a header.
You want a header that has straight piping out of the cumbustion camber for as long as possible. 2-3 inches is a good straight length then have the piping start to curve. The reason for this is so that you keep the volocity of the exhaust pulses as high as possible before the piping curves.

Any longer than this and the bends would have to be sharper or the primaries would be running into the radiator
Edit: and don't forget the front engine mount that's not installed in the pictures.

Cool... i read that information that I posted I don't even have headers I'm looking into getting headers and exhaust so i don't some research. I looked under my car yesterday to checkout that area and I can't even imagine getting a 1 piece in there. BTW if you get a DC sports header does it have all of the connecting holes for the 02 sensors or what ever those sensors are.
ryvtec: Go ask the boys in the ITR forum what they think of SMSP headers. Then you'll know why everyone is so damn excited to see this thing almost complete.
ryvtec, i find it odd that you would question someone that has built a name for his company in the import market. the smsp b series headers make some serious power.
and this coming from someone who says "does it have all of the connecting holes for the 02 sensors or what ever those sensors are."
not trying to sound like an ******* or be rude, but unless you have some serious knowledge about exhaust flow and cars in general, i'd leave it upto the experts. and no i'm not an expert.

Yes, it is really not good when a newbie (or anyone) who really doesn't even seem technically informed tells a well-respected maker of performance parts that the design is bad. It's like Beavis telling Einstein his theory of relativity is wrong.
I have the solution to Beavis' curved header problem. Turn the engine the other way.
Have you ever installed a header into a car? Even a 2-piece 4-2-1? Even that is a PITA.

Ok everyone calm down the last thing we need is a flame war in a genuine good thread. I think hes got the point after the 1st 3 posts lol. I think he knows now.
