Default HELP!!! Heat behind dash and under shifter console?

I had my engine rebuilt recently and now that I have my car back I've noticed hot air coming from under the dash by the pedals and under the glove box. The shifter gets super hot after a long ride and when I take the head unit out, it's scorching hot. The hot and cold lever works fine and regulates temp accordingly.

The AC works fine and as a matter of fact, the heat issue goes away with the AC on. The heat doesn't feel as if it's coming through the vents.

The thermostat is new as is the radiator. New coolant, too. The water temp stays under the middle of the gauge.

Any idea what would cause such a significant heat problem?

Just throwing something out there. Maybe your engine bay isn't getting engough ventilation?

What would the difference be? It didn't do it prior to the rebuild, but now it does.

Are your exhaust heat sheilds still in place? My DA does the same thing. I noticed after I had to remove a portion of it for a stupid short shifter

I don't know if one is missing or not. I looked, but everything looks like it there, but I'm not sure how it looked prior to the rebuild.

Mine does the same thing but it started after I installed an exhaust. Possible heat shield... anyone else?

check your engine bay and check around the firewall and make sure all open/and or expose holes are covered by oem grommets!!!!!

its either a heat shield, a hole in the firewall, or a leaky exaust, maybe the guy didnt put the o2 sensor in the bung before the cat, or could be all three
