help me decide what clutch is best for me.
hi guys i'm repairing my tranny soon and am gonna throw a new clutch on there soon, i was leaning torwards an ITR but then heard that its the same as the gsr? i want a streetable clutch that can handle the abuse but wont be a bitch to drive, it seems like ACT is the most popular, but for an N/A setup what would you guys recomend? also any flywheel recomendations? thanks
Dont know about clutch, but the Integra Type R flywheel is like two or three pounds lighter and YES that is a good difference for a street driven Integra.
I have ACT heavy duty pressure plate with modified street disc, and a fidanza 7.5 lb flywheel. Pedal pressure isn't too stiff, but stiffer than stock, and the clutch grabs very well. That flywheel revs incredibly faster than stock, I wouldn't trade it for the world.
That ITR clutch won't hold long on nitrous. I had a friend running an 80 shot on his ITR, and his clutch lasted about 5 passes before it started to slip. If you're gonna drop the tranny, might as well get a real performance clutch, one that can hold lots of power, and slicks/drag radials.

I just got the ACT HDSS clutch kit installed and it feels great. The pedal pressure is just a little heavier and the grab is very strong.
the centerforce clutch is another good alternative to act... it grabs nicely but doesn't make the pedal effort any harder than stock. i've got the itr flywheel now, but i wish i went with something a little lighter. i'd say 8-10 lbs. would be nice. shoulda got the toda one...

I hear Exedy are awesome clutches. They can take abuse and still drive like a stock clutch. They would handle the power you have.
Also, you might want to consider putting in a lightweight flywheel when you're replacing the clutch. Don't forget when you have the tranny apart it's the best time to put in a new final drive or LSD.

Drumsy has an Exedy organic clutch and a Fidanza 9 lb. flywheel(i think that's what he has) is his GS-R. I've driven it a few times and it feels great. Pedal pressure feels pretty much stock, and it grabs very well. I was really suprised the first time I drove it cause it felt so easy on my foot.
I would go with an ACT HDSS kit and Fidanza flywheel. We can put together a nice package for you...drop me a line.
This setup allows for daily driven comfort, very fast revs, and nice grab.
FYI: The ITR Clutch disk and GSR disk are the same...its the PP's that are different.

i want a nice light flywheel, but i hear that they get tore up real quick when you have a strong clutch with them, is that true? thanks
For what you have, an ITR clutch would do perfectly.
If you insist on not staying OEM, I'd go for a Clutchnet Stage I. It's what I run on my own car.

ok, i checked into it and the price diff between an Itr clutch and say an ACT is only like 100 so i think maybe its worth going for something stronger? i need to decide what flywheel to get, i'd like to get something around 10-11 lb so i dont loose to much torque. from what ive read aluminum is not to reliable and chromeolly steel seems to be a favorite. what do you guys sugges in the 350 range? i was going to get the itr but i hear the difference is only 3 lb so i might as well spend the money, a friend hooked me up with a mechanic that will do the labor for 270 wich seems very reasonable. thanks

good point, but i have no info regards the final drive, way i kept my gsr tranny and put a 4.7 final would it make it like an Itr? or still longer gearing? how difficult is it to do the final drive and where and how much for one? thanks

IPS racing has them for about 500 i believe. doing all 3 at the same time would definitely be a good thing. I dont know about the weight of the toda, but I heard it is streetable.
try checking the prices for exedy clutches at http://www.clutchcityonline.com
good luck, no matter what you decide.

have heard really good things on exedy full face organic clutches. price is right from them. what power upgrades do you have on the car... planning on drag racing a lot? if all you need is a good upgrade for a mildly upgraded street car, this will be more than you need. much better buy that a type R setup, IMHO.
if I lived where you are, Id be buying this setup in a minute. BTW, how's the tranny coming? diagnose the problem yet?
