Igniter?
no, the starter is wired direct to the battery.

That is correct. the bad igniter or wiring will affect it staying running tho.

Would it cause the car to shut off while driving or while idling? My car I can drive it for a while, park and when I go to start it back up it won't start. I have to let it sit for a minute or two. I mean like today I went to the post office checked the mail and came back and the car wouldn't start!

yes that very well could and most likely is caused by a bad ignitor...had the same problem...
make sure you get an actual honda one as a replacement...alot of times the part store ones dont last or are bad to begin with-

just to re-interate. Once the car turns over it always runs fine. Thats not the problem. The problem is getting the starter to spin. Honda guy told me that if the igniter is failing it is sucking the juice from the starter to power the distributor as the starters trying to turn causing it not to turn. THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM ONLY ONCE THE CAR TURNS OVER I HAVE ABSOUTELY NO PROBLEM.

Yeah , what he said !!!
Yeah , what he said !!!
haha, you should ask why the "certified honda tech" is driving a camaro, and you may have your answer. my money is on starter solenoid or bad ground wire.

a jumpy tach is very often caused by a faulty ignitor...but I have NEVER heard of the ignitor causing a starter to malfuction...but stranger things have happened...if you suspect it...go ahead and replace it...worse case scenerio is that you have a brand new ignitor...eventually you will replace the one you have now anyway...
make sure you get one from HONDA....
and as far as honda technitions??? some of the ones I know hate hondas... and dont know anything...save from the books tell them...
You say you can't always start the car right up like you should be able. Has the car ever stalled out on you? Or are you just having starting problems? A failing ingnitor would cause your car to stall so would a coil or other related distributor parts. The distributor is powered by the ecu and not the starter.
car never stalls. This is only a starting problem, the engine runs fine when it starts. It doesn't sputter or do anything weird, the starter just refuses to turn over and I have to keep trying the key until it works. IGNITION SWITCH IS BRAND NEW. If the igniter is failing couldn't it cause a fault in the cars electrical delivery to the starter?

sounds like a loose connections somewhere...and/or corroded wire somewhere...
IT REALLY DOES NOT SOUND LIKE THE INGITOR...HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU WANT TO TELL YOU THIS?

Then my next thing to check would the the clutch interlock. Which can cause intermentient starts. Either it be the plunger or the tab or just out of adjustment from the tab being worn.
