Default aftermarket alarm for 05 civic ex

sup guys.
I got an 05 honda civic ex, power window and door locks, and I want to install an after market alarm. my question is what kind of alarm is good for this car and do I have to remove the stock OEM alarm for installation or just add an aftermarket one. thanks

Why would you want an aftermarket alarm?

Your car is equipped with an immobilizer, so unless a thief has a computerized coded key your car isn't going to start.

Also it's slightly retarded to rip out a perfectly functioning alarm, to install another.
sorry if that was a little harsh

On a side note i work at a honda dealership, and u wouldn't believe the stupid **** we see, take for example last week i had a guy come in with an 05 accord EX V6
which already has security with keyless.

U won't believe this but he had an aftermarket alarm and oem functioning at the same time. It looked ridiculous, since the accord has the transmitter integrated in to the key itself, the tech actually had to disarm the after market and then the oem before he could work on the car.

O well it was a good laugh for all of us.
P.S. don't be that guy, he was a real tool ha ha

i got rid of the upgraded factory keyless entry and alarm system which is such a pos and a waste of money. The alarm company was made by magnovox and was such a crapy install and system that all it was was some crapy wires and a box. im glad i switched my alarm system to the viper alarm system. i had a buddy of mine install it(got it done at his work, Circuit City) and still have the immobilizer and alarm horn with an addition to the one that came with the Viper alarm. thats one option u can go with but u need to buy a DEI box thingy so u can start and work the vehicle. it was really worth it + he got the system for me for cheap b.c he was selling it.

oh and to answer which years came with the immobilizers is i believe 01-up i think on all model hondas but i know for sure it came with all 01-up civics.

I'm not really happy with my factory alarm either. all it does is opens and closes the doors. I want some thing to weak me up at night when there is some one tries to get into my car.
Immobilizer is good to have because they can't jack the car unless they tow it, but what if they got into your car and steal your stuffs.
