Lowering 5th gen...having problem (searched)
Ok guys....i know this may seem like a dumb question but Im trying to find the answer to a question about lowering a 5th gen. Heres the suspension setup:
-Stock shocks
-Coilover Sleeves and Springs
-16" OEM rims and tires
A buddy of mine is having trouble lowering the car. He still has about an 1 or more from tire top to fender rim. We cant get the car to go any lower, as if the car was laying on the shock. What were trying to accomplish is having no gap between top of tire to Fender well. As i look through pics of 5thgens i see alot of guys tucking tire. All were trying to do is the same. I know most of you are saying GET AFTERMARKET SHOCKS. but he will, but not till we figure out this problem. IS there anything we should check?? has anyone else had this probleM?? Help me guys! thanks

raise the car up and set the car on jackstands. use the jack to compress the suspension. check if you are bottoming out the shock. if you are bottoming out the shock, then try cutting the bump stop, or replacing the shock with aftermarket, shorter shocks. if you are not bottoming out he shock then you might be able to but the spring.
on another note, you car will not handle very good without aftermarket shocks. you will bounce worse than pam's ***** on baywatch. and i have about 0.5" - 1.0" gap between my fenders and tires and i bottom out a lot, so you will bottom out on a tic-tac.

Thats your issue right there. You are spouting off crap that others told you. Speak from experiance or don't speak at all.
to the OP,
You need to find out some things, how long are the coils, what is the spring rate, are they installed correctly (i.e. are the top hats set up right. some have you take out the rubber inside, some have you add some, etc).
