95 Gsr quarter mile
Hey whats up guys i have a 95 Gsr with 155k on the motor. I ran the car recently at the track and ran a 14.9 and my 60' was 2.369 my mods are 4-1 headers hayami catback, hi flow cat, AEBS Intake manifold, some shitty ebay intake, and a chipped ecu. I was wondering if ne one knows what i shouldve ran. Did ne one else run their gsr's and what were ur times. thanx
actually sounds about right. And as a front wheel drive chassis, ET really doesn't mean all that much. A good set of tires and an LSD and you can put a stock GSR in the 14s. MPH determines your HP, I ran my 124k mile old intake'd 94 GSR a few weeks ago and went 15.3 @ 92.

its not SUPPOSED to run anything. there are so many different factors that are going to determine what a car will run on any given day in the 1/4 mile at the track.
all of these bolt ons are really doing nothing more than wasting your money and making your car more noticeable for tickets and theft. save your money on the type r cams unless you have something to start tuning with. dont buy a stage one clutch unless you need a new clutch or your car calls for a stronger clutch because of more power. and a lightweight flywheel is not all its made out to be either. all these things also make the car much less streetable.
if you want to do anything.. do minor things like changing out old spark plugs.. tune-up, etc.. these things MAY in fact improve your cars performance moreso than your mods.. and will also make the car more fuel efficient and run better.
ive wasted too much money on bolt on mods before.. save your money and if you so desire.. go forced induction later on when you have the cash to lay out for it.

I disagree, these bolt ons can provide a noticable increase in performance without a loss in drivability. I dont know how a stiffer clutch, lightened flywheel, and more aggressive cams will make you more prone to theft or tickets? That's ludicris. Ive driven several cars with fidanza flywheels and if anything they make the car more fun to drive, and certainly dont affect streetability. If he were suggesting getting a 4 puck clutch, then Id say yeah dont do it. But not a basic ACT 2100lb kit.
Oh and sanitarium.... dont get in the habit of describing performance upgrades in stages, it drives me insane. I dont know about you, but I dont live in Need For Speed Underground.

i see.. that makes sense well i put new ngk plugs and wires in the car mayb a month ago. also ur saying that all the bolt ons dont do nething but when i first bolted up my headers the diffrence was clear as day. The intake manifold however didnt make much difference at all. and i got the ecu chipped bc it was really cheap and i wanted 2step without having have to buy the msd box and the two step module. when i ran the car with the 2 step built into the ecu it helped me out alot, i had a perfect launch. my goal is to get my car to run a low 14 without any kind of forced induction . that is the reason i asked about the lightwheight flywheel and clutch and cams. and yes i do need a new clutch my clutch has over 100k miles on it and its starting to slip a bit. If there is any one that has a gsr with type r cams or any kind of aftermarket cams and ran their car on the track let me know what u ran, thanx
i live in need for speed underground? dood how does wanting to know what my car is gonna run with the setup i listed make u think i live in need for speed underground . The reason i ask these things is because i dont want to keep spending money on stupid things so i ask people who have done these mods in the past. im not trying to have my car run 10's (dont have that kinda money ne way) i just need to know what does it take for a 95 gsr to get to run a low 14 period
sounds like a pretty good time, if you want to run a faster time try lightening your car up, and some smaller rims with good tires
tuning would aslo benefit you greatly if you are running a generic chip right now

my fastest pass was a 14.23@104mph on street tires and all i have is basically bolt ons, except for cam gears. After my mods, i got a tune up and bam, low 14. im about to buy lsd with traction bars, which hopefully would net a 14.00.
my mods are listed on my cardomain. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/850903

my first response was a general statement to say that basically people who buy bolt ons for their car because advertisements tell you you will net 15hp from and exhaust and 10whp from intake manifolds is a complete lie. you need to be force inducted to net gains as such. and there is NO reason this persons gsr would need a "stage 1" clutch for any reason at all. im all about saving money, as ive been through this all before. trust me, if you really think about it.. in the long run i can almost guarantee that the majority of the people would agree that they wish they had not spent the money on some of the "performance" mods.. "bolt ons" if you will.
if you are looking to touch 14s with your gsr, get a good tune.. and like previously stated.. lighten up the car.. ie. take out your seats when you race, etc.
these are things that can be put back into the car rather than spending money that you are not going to get back.
im a fan of adding OEM honda parts.. NOT NECCESSARILY "JDM" parts.. but OEM honda/acura upgrades.
my future plans are to get another gsr, do all suspension, with a full type-r exhaust.. put my stereo in it.. and call it a day
