Hi Guys,

I apologize if this has been covered but the search function of the forums keeps breaking and I can't get any solid results.

I have a 91 Accord EX (142,000KM's Automatic) and the sport light has started blinking.

So after doing some research I figured out the code (9) was the car saying the speed sensor is malfunctioning. I pulled out the TCU just to be sure that none of the resistors or capacitors were cold soldered or burned. I re-flowed a few but it didn't help.

The car still shifts but it's doing it wrong. Shifting up is about 300-1000 RPM higher than usual and when shifting down at about 40-55KM/h it shifts down to first. Shifting too early. Which I feel the pull of the car from the shift. I am looking at getting a new speed sensor soon.

I guess my question is could the speed sensor be responsible for just a drastic change? And is there anyone that has a diagram or has done the sensor change before? Is it difficult?

umm it's an automatic your problem is your trying to drive it like a manual.....change your speed sensor sell the car and buy a 5 speed

 

How am I driving it like a standard? The car is shifting, automatically (go figure), it's just shifting wrong.

My question is could the speed sensor be responsible for shifting issues? I thought the speed sensor only controlled the speedometer!?

 

okay..hmm not familier with an automatic lol but changing a speed sensor is very easy takes 5-10 mins..if you know what your doing....and how many miles are on the tranyn and when is the last time you did a service on it??(fislter, flush)
