Default other ways to accelerate faster

i am looking for ways to accelerate faster (and better traction) other than internal engine mods

my ideas so far:

weight reduction
windows rolled up (less drag)
lower suspension (tighter?)
wider tires
larger sidewall on tires (better for accel not for turning)
this means 205/60/14 vs. 205/45/16 (same outside diameter)
not sure on this one: tires +/- 3 psi of recommended
strut/sway bars
traction bar (thinking of getting one)
weight distribution (more in front if possible)
synthetic oil?? any difference?
higher octane gas

please tell me you ideas and wheather you agree/disagree with my thoughts

thanks

The things I highlighted are not neccesary for faster acceleration. It can actually hurt you acceleration. If you want to built a drag car or something that will help you drop a few tenths get drag coilovers or a spring setup that is really stiff in the rear and softer in the front. Buy a set of skinnier tires for the rear of the car. Wider tires will help you accelerate faster in a quarter mile but they may lower your trap speed, your times should go down due to the traction but if you are making a lot of power and you use really sticky tires like slicks your trap speed will increase a little. Traction bars are great for FWD cars. I woukld definately recommend them. The strut bars and sway stuff can stay off your car when you go to the strip because it is just added weight.

How about getting new gears? By far the best bang for your buck in acceleration.

i think he ment transmission gears, like shorter gear ratio's. can also get a lighter flywheel. that might help

type r tranny o b16 tranny is great for acceleration.

higher octane isnt going to help you at all unless u up your compression.

SURE ways
weight reduction.
stiff motor mounts
z rated tires
type r or b16 tranny
get a light weight flywheel and crank pulley
and lightest rims you can find

i have an ACT clutch, as for tires and rims, i am looking to get some new ones....
so z-rated and light weight
the rims being lighter, how big of a difference does this make (i just have stock gsr 14x5.5)
any suggestions?
and the gsr tranny i got has very short gears, faster than the LS, maybe an LSD in there would help

Yes, I meant transmission gears.

Best way to improve acceleration by far. But if you get too rediculous, you will have a low top speed.

Start reading up on gear ratios and final drive ratio. Easiest way to make torque (acceleration). I don't mean getting a b16 tranny (although you could do that for better acceleration).

Edit: An LSD would help with traction issues yes.

do you have the 2nd gen gsr tranny? i believe those have shorter gears than the other b16 tranny's.. (dont quote me on that.. i read it in a post on honda-tech a long time ago).. but yes LSD

Out of the 14 posts that were made, you were the only one that sounded like an idiot ..

Another alternative to making some power, try getting a good tune on what you already have.
When I say alternative, most people don't think of it when there isn't much done.

I also turn my side mirrors inward when I've gone to the track.

I think lowering the car will help because rather than the air going under your chassis, more air will get sucked into the intercooler. Your best acceleration will be after doing an oil change and spark plug change. Traction bars and LSD will definitely help you too. Tuning is very important - just getting an EMS and tuned, you will probably see the most results.

Hahah, I didn't read your sig, I was assuming your car was stockish.

Why are you looking for more power if your car is turbo'd

.... who is ever satisfied.... that should be a poll, 'do you have enough power yet?'

For better acceleration you will need more torque... which is an impossiblity because you drive a honda.
