Default Type R Rear Sway bar on an LS

Read somewhere that the Type R rear sway bar put on an LS causes alot of oversteer, Searched but I cant find anything on this. Does anyone know if this is true or not or if there is any advantage to having this setup?

i don't know about oversteer or not, but if you do plan on getting an ITR swaybar, your going to have to get a re-enforcement kit otherwise you'll tear out your lower subframe.

The stock ITR sway bar will not bolt up to the LS subframe...you would either need to purchase a rear crossmember brace or purchase the ITR rear crossmember pieces

Wow, so much misinformation. I've had the ITR rear sway bar on my LS for over a year. No it does not cause excessive oversteer. And my subframe is still intact. You need to order a BSQ kir which is basically a spacer, to make it fit: http://www.geocities.com/bretq/?20061

I've also had the ITR swaybar on my LS for awhile. It all depends on your spring setup for oversteer. If you are autocross racing it tends to give you some (not OMGWTFBISCUIT) oversteer and on throttle lift off (in a turn and let go of the throttle quickly) it can, under the right circumstances, cause the rear end to break free.

But it improves handling a whole bunch. One of the best bang for your buck handling modifications you can put on your car.

As for the spacer kit. It's not so much a spacer kit as it is a subframe reinforcement kit. Check out this thread, which was posted just a few days ago, about subframe tearout from larger rear sway bars.

I'm glad someone corrected the misinformation.

Also there's a nice DIY write up on team-integra or you could pm me and I can talk you through it. Like said above you will need some type of mounting kit. (beaks, BSQ, ASR ect..) I have the 23mm ITR and the Beaks and love it. Great handling, but I also have other mods to aid as well. Dont forget to get some new bushings.
ICBmotorsports sells a nice kit that includeds everything you will need, but you could always shop around and find it for cheaper. GL

my tires are so worn to hell i can get the back end out easily, and with a little agressive driving, I pulled a four wheel slide yesterday, seriously.
here's my love:

You can also upgrade the bolts to Grade 8 to be a little safer from the sub-frame tear-outs.

grade 8 bolts wont do anything

subframe tearout is where the subframe breaks not the bolts

go with either beaks or bsq kit
if you want somthing bigger
asr brace
or comptech

You are referring to the stock ITR rear lower tie bar. The sway bar is a direct bolt-on, however you MUST use either the Beaks kit or the BSQ kit as to reduce the chances of sub-frame tearout since non-ITR's do not have a reinforced subframe stock.

Integras are usually prone to understeer. We are not discussing strut bars either, this is about Sway bars.

My experience is that if you put just the swaybar on, and do nothing else, it will be more prone to sudden and uncontrollable oversteer only if you do heavy trail braking into a corner, or with abrupt throttle lift in a corner. If you also put the ITR struts and springs on, then it becomes predictable again, only with a much higher limit. I would get used ITR struts and springs (and you will also need the ITR lca no matter what if you are going to put the ITR swaybar on) if I was putting on the sway bar. I got mine from http://www.jdmtheory.com for a really good price.

You don't need ITR LCAs with the ITR sway bar.

You do need ITR LCAs if you get ITR struts though.

Really? I thought if you put the sway bar on with the original lca, the little link thing that connects the sway bar to the lca will sit at an odd angle.

you will needs a beaks/bsq kit.
as far as subframe tearing goes, isn;t that more common with EK owners than DC4 owners? never heard of it happening w/ a LS.
