I bought a stainless steel Topmount w. XXXXXX shop (sponsor on H-T) 2 months ago. Now is got a crack on the wastegate flange for the 2ND time. Should I ask for a Refund? what would you guys do???

I called xxx shop for a nice top mount set up, blah blah, he promissed it will be done in 2weeks, 3 the MOST... So i paypal'ed 16xx amount to the shop, money was taken out 3 days after. Anywho, 2 months passed by, "I havent got a chance start on ur manifold yet, I was busy on other customers orders... (WTF) They offered to pay me extra to finish theirs first, and I in need for some money, so i gotta finish theirs and then start on urs...." I was like, if u cant get it done by next 2 weeks, i need my full refund. dala....dada....dada... got my manifold downpipe 2months and 2 weeks after, BUT my intercooler pipings are not ready yet ---- 2 more weeks wait... Oh lord....

finally got everything BUT my 3" exhaust, i need a car to get around town, so i got it tune on open Downpipe.

2 weeks after tuned, the dump tub flange cracked for the first time, i have to take the manifold off and drive close to 1.5hours to the shop to get it re weld alone w. my 3" dp (cause it was sitting to low, i cant even go over a small speed bump) But the owner of the shop replied "Theres no way I can do anything to the dp today, i have a Race to go to, i can weld/fix ur manifold and blah blah..." soi was like, F*** it, and ask if it will crack again, he said NO, IT WILL NEVER CRACK AGAIN. around 10days after that (2 days ago), i check my oil/fluid and plugs, say there other crack @ the same spot it crack. I been try to call the builders cell, phone was off... Still havent got a chance to talk to him yet....

Do u think i should just call him and ask for a REFUND for the manifold possible downpipe? cause the flex pipe got damaged, and hang too low....

ummm, i think id want a refund also.....its not like it cracked a year later. if the wastegate flange cracked, theres probably more cracks to come

 

1) Because he is your sponsor, you should not be making this thread. I dont know how much of a discount he gave you, but you should understand he gave you a discount so his name would be affliated with your car. You are supposed to give him good press. Giving him bad press after he cut you a deal is basically making you look like a fool.

2) He screwed up by not making you want to spread the good word about his service. Sponsorships usually go one of two ways. One way is someone hooks up with a shop and they give them good deals on parts and offer them great service. The person who got the parts then just says they are the greatest company in the world to anyone who will listen. The other way is the shop gives them mediocre service but a nice discount. In this case you lie your *** off and say they are great. Why? Because they saved you money so you have to do something in return. He didn't discount his prices for you to give his company bad press.

In the end, if you aren't happy with the service you should discuss this like adults. Neither of you are doing the right thing.

Do you mean one-fab ? JG-FAB produces good stuff and has better customer service then that.

I personally would ask for a refund, yes things will crack over time but two times means something else is wrong. Just curious what kind of flange is he using on the dump tube, mild steel or stainless ? See if a magnet sticks to it.

 

it sucks it cracked on you twice , but maybe it needs a brace of some sort if it is the jg-fab manifold you got in that link , it is 16 gauge tube , so it might just need a brace ,

From what other fab. shop around town told me the material he used on MY manifold will crack in other places. I really dont know much about fab. and metal/material works, i thought it will be good and last me for long time.... Guess not....

 

manifolds that are made from 16 gauge are fine if you support things properly , like the turbo and wastegate , with hyme joints and such I would just have the XXXXX sponsor fix it and make you some suport braces and you will be fine

 

Only thing is i hate is... I have drive 1.5hours to the shop and might take a chance he cant do it right away, also it might crack again... I have to keep taking the manifold off again and AGAIN... my car is been down for over 4months, i hate to see that thing sitting in my garage conlecting dust... And it takes coupe hours of my time every time that happens ....

I would call ahead and setup a time for him to do it right then. There's no excuse for this.

From the sounds of this, whoever this person is, they lack customer service skills. Never overpromise; always underpromise.

So you didn't brace the turbo or wastgate on a tubular manifold?

All other things aside that's kind of dumb.

I never said it wouldnt crack again, I said if it ever did bring it back again and I will brace the wg flange, I was out of stock for building braces that day and you came by on the weekend of Houston Grand Prix that I was only at the shop at that moment becuase of a setup I promised to a friend that day, I had told you to bring it by earlier that week so we wouldnt run into that issue.

Also be sure to bring it all this time...
I cant gaurantee a perfect fitment on the downpipe when I am supposed to mod it and you dont bring the manifold, I even told you this over the phone when you said you were going to bring it, I also told you straight up front when you were at the shop and didn't have the manifold....

The wg flange is the only one that wasnt braced on your setup
Everything else is fine on it, at the time I didnt believe that the wastegate needed to be braced but after doing yours and a couple of others I know how that it must be braced just like the turbo

Just bring it by I am going to be up here untill 7 pm today

Also when you call and say you are going to come over on a set date, make sure you come over on that date becasue alot of my time on weekends is with family or at races...

I had called twice on my cellphone, i could show u the calls when i get there hopefully this weekend when i get my day of from work... if not I have to ask my friend to help me bring the manifold to u again... but like what I DID last time, I WILL call u before he heads out there... Also I am not hating on u, that why I put xxx sponsor, i didnt wanna to put ur name on it before i get ahold of u... James, I DID called u last time coupe days ahead... AND i had called u before my friend heading out there again(1.5hours ahead)... i did have my downpipe and Manifold there last time, ur dad told him to take that thing back, there no way u can work on that that day. Then i called the shop, and ask ur dad if i can speak to u since ur phone is off, He said u were busy, and i told him I needed that done, i cant even go over speed bump w. that DP and I dont have the time nor gas to drive down there again and again. STILL He said "sorry, we cant do it today...."

people need to learn that they are not the only customer places have, and however hard we try, there are going to be some people that we make mad. despite all of our hard efforts.

he's obviously trying to help you, so stop posting and take him the stuff to fix. no big deal.

so u saying not finish/delay a customer's order when he promissed is right?? and I shouldnt say anything about he stated fault statement about i didnt call him (1st time)??? Also the manifold crack twice in the 1st month wont get a customer upset when I paid almost 1000bucks for the manifold?
