Default Del Sol Supercharged

So i'm putting a Jackson Racing Supercharger on my Del Sol, and i don't wanna hear anybody saying i'm a moron, stupid for doin a non-vtec, wastin money or wutever any of you dumbass haters on this site are gonna post!!! (and i know most of you are haters) I just want a really nice daily driver that will beat most beater/rice burner 4 cylinders out there. So i just wanna know from anyone that has done the JR Supercharger setup wut needs to be done beside low comp. pistons to get nice power from it. JR says you can run 8psi stock, i'd like to have a 10-12psi setup. I know the fuel system will need tweeking but i need more specifics. Maybe i should be looking for info/lit. on this in other places (because there are many many stupid people on this site) but there are still on half-decent people that know wut they are talking about on H-T.com

I'm going JR supercharger because its cheaper than most turbo kit setups i've looked at. Jackson Racing is well known and i just feel like going down this path, so i'm going with instincts and however it turns out im sure i'll be pleased with the increased performance.

There's a huge JRSC thread where all of us JRSC losers hang out:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1214810

Don't run low-comp pistons, unlike a turbo setup, the little Eaton M45 blower will not move enough CFM to make up for the low compression. If you are replaciing internals, I'd suggest running higher that stock compression, your JRSC will really like it. I ran 12:1 with 8 PSI from a JRSC and made over 300 WHP, but your results will vary.

Good tuning is essential, especially if you up the compression. Get some kind of real engine management system (Hondata, Crome, Uberdata, AEM EMS, etc.) and an experienced tuner.

cheaper!? How cheap are they? Last time I cheked a decent SC name brand was like 3 grand, while a cheap turbo setup can run u like 600 bucks and a name brand cheap can run u like 1.5k

SOHC JRSC kits are $1995 retail from JR. You can get them for a discount from a reseller.

Been discussed a million times, each setup has it's own strengths. And comparing a brand new complete SC setup from a major manufacturer with a full warranty to a junkyard/HMT/SSAC setup is not realistic.

You always use HP to gain HP, even with a turbo, there is no free HP. Turbo is more efficient, SC gives more linear torque delivery. My SC setup isn't as good as my turbo setup was at the drag strip, but it's much better than the turbo at a road course or autox. It all depends on what you want to do. I like the SC's for reliable DD power and autox.

If you don't what lag get a small like a t25. And does JC give you any fuel or engine management.

The stock kit gives you a FMU and an IAT relay, then recommends some base ignition retard, pretty crappy but okay for the 6 PSI that it makes. They sell a MAP controller that actually works pretty well for it if you keep it at 6 PSI, but just like with any F/I, if you're going to run more than 6 PSI, get some real engine management.

to the OP: careful bashing everyone on this site. Not the best way to get help. That being said, good luck with the setup, I personally would have built a turbo for that money, but to each his own. I like the idea of a supercharger as well, just couldnt justify it on a honda.

To be fair, there are many stupid people on H-T, but it's not like there's some other board that only has geniuses posting.

very true, but not a good way to start a thread none the less.
